    Californian's markings changing?

Hi everybody! I adopted my first Californian(Jake)in February. I noticed this week that the markings on his ears and his nose are changing (the pigment is changing) from when I got him. I see other Californian's with pigmented markings too, so it must happen. Is there any reason? Here is a...

    Castiel on Supernatural

I know there are some Supernatural fans here, who's watching now? They just had a great line. This girl was asking Dean & Sam to kill her because she was infected and had fed, and they were trying to talk her out of it. In the middle of it Castiel just reached out and melted her. Sam & Dean...

Sometimes the Dead Bunny Flop is too realistic!

I just about had a heart attack; Jake was behind his cage doing the DBF so I took a few pictures (see below). He didn't move at all and his eyes were open. I got all freaked out and yelled and he jumped up; which almost gave him a heart attack. He is fine, just was in a deep sleep. But I was...

Picture of someone's baby New Zealand White?

Hi all! I am working on a school project for my Public Speaking Class, and am doing it on what happens to Easter bunnies bought at Easter. Does anybody have a picture of a baby New Zealand White? If so, can you post it and can I have permission to use it as a visual aid in my speech?

Welcome home to "Sir" Jacob :)

Hi all - I think this is the proper section for this. I adopted a new bunny yesterday :) For those of you who remember me, I had a NZW, Gulliver, who passed away from lymphoma a few weeks ago. Missing having a rabbit, I perused Petfinder and came across Sir, from Hug-a-Bunny in NJ. After a...

    Gulliver's Travels Feb 07 - Feb 11

I don't come to this section very often because, frankly, it made me nervous. So many sad stories, and now I must add mine. In 2007 I got a call from someone that had an "albino cottontail". Although our hospital doesn't work with domestics, they described him in pretty dire straights so I told...

    Gulliver keeping cool

It is very hot in New York! Gulliver is an inside bunny but it is still hot. So, besides his own personal fan & ice cubes in his water, I put a frozen bottle of water in his cage. Within 10 seconds, he flopped down between the water & the ice bottle: Smart bun!

    Brushing stubborn rabbit

So it's shedding season again. How do you guys groom your stubborn rabbits? Gulliver hates being brushed; I have the Furminator and a regular grooming brush/comb. Doesn't matter, he hates them both. I started just picking and lightly pulling some fur out while he's eating as he lets me do...

Wildlife rescues, Facebook & other fun stuff

Hi all!As some of you know, I am the director of a wildlife hospital in New York. We recently had some cool stuff going on, so I thought I'd share. This is a rescue I did of a Great-horned Owl that was caught in a soccer net 2 Saturdays ago. That's my hubby helping me out...

Crisis averted but have a question re: stasis

OK, I feel a little stupid here, but I'm still glad I acted on my instinct. Last night, I had Gulliver out. I noticed that while he was running around, he spent a lot of time by his cage. I was busy doing stuff, got his food together while he was running around and about 11:00 put him away. He...

Were you afraid of Santa? Let's see your photos!

Were you, your child/nephew or niece, friend's kid, etc. afraid of Santa? Have a photo taken when a well-meaning adult thought it would be fun to force you to sit on his lap for a wonderful photo? Bring 'em on! This is me, I think I was about 3 years old here. Apparantly the only photo they...

    Hellooo Gideon!

Although he's been mentioned on here a few times, I thought it time to introduce a new bunny - Gideon! I work in a wildlife hospital, (OK shameless plug..) and though we don't work with domestic animals, I have a soft spot for abandoned bunnies, which is how I ended up with my own Gulliver...

My wildlife hospital's fundraiser, WALK for Wildlife

Further to my thread in Rabbit Tales that focus on Gulliver, here are some more pictures of our fundraiser. We had all of our permanent animals out on the trail. It's a3 mile walk (not strenuous). It's not a walkathon or anything, jut a stroll through the park. Every 1/4 mile we had a different...

    Gulliver at our fundraising table

I don't know if any of you remember, but my wildlife hospital has an annual fundraiser, the WALK for Wildlife. I had a table at it this year, of Don't Release Your Pets. I had my red-eared slider, Sabrina there, an Eastern Box Turtle that lives at our hospital that someone took as a baby from...

    Bonding question

Someone on another forum I am on just lost one rabbit and was looking to get another rabbit for her remaining one to live with. I did put the link here for her to join, don't know if she did or not. She just updated her thread to say that she found a bunny on petfinder (here's the link:)...

A happy wildlife story (*warning, slightly graphic picture but happy ending*)

As most of you know, I work in a wildlife hospital. About a month ago, someone came into our hospital about an injured osprey in their yard with a fishing lure stuck in his wing. Since they lived right by our hospital, one of my staffand I hopped on the bandwagon and checked it out. Sure enough...

    Breed question

Of courses I don't have a picture, but I was wondering: there was a thread awhile ago here with pictures of giant bunnies - some of the pictures were prior internet pictures (not people from here) - one was a man holding the rabbit by the scruff. If anybody knows what I am talking about, what...

    What I learned from bunnies

I was visiting my in-laws in Florida last weekend, and on the 2nd day there, woke up in the middle of the night with a terrible stomache; severe abdominal pains. Apparantly I ate something that didn't agree with me. The whole next day I was in pain; I forced myself to walk a lot, took...

    My turn to binkie!

OK I am saying this while holding my breath, but things have gotten better with Gulliver's peeing on the hardwood floors. Although I had done this before and he didn't care, I put a litter box where he liked to pee (by my entertainment center). The first few times I did it, he deliberately...
