First Cut: Need some extra opinions judging my Am litter

Ok I'm really new to the breed and not very experiences judging mandolin type. I know I've got my work cut out with these guys so I'm happy to hear whatever feedback you've got on them. (I can take constructive criticism) My goal with this litter is to produce a better rabbit than mom and...

    day 35 going on 36

Ok this is honestly the first time I've had a doe go this long without delivering. I've palpated her and I'm fairly sure there is a kit or two in there (I feel soft heads and cashew shaped bodies). And I'm certain about the date she's due. The other two does I bred on the same day kindled on...

    My First American Litter

Today Adda kindled out first litter of American Blues and we now have 10 beautiful babies (all blue!!!). She's a good mom and didn't mind it one bit when I stumbled in on her delivery. She even let me take some pictures as she cleaned and nursed them for the first time.

    American Dift 2009

Sorry I just have to share This. We've been working on this adventure for about a month now and Jermey has already started his trek. I've never met anyone so passionate about rabbits. I'm honored just to be part of this awesome event. For everyone scratching there heads wondering what...

    What a bummer

Our Silver Fox doe kindled this morning giving us 6 more kits. I was pleasantly surprised when one in particular looked a little different from the rest... I was waiting until it got a little more fur on him before I made the call for sure but he took a turn for the worst well before that...

    American Blues

Americans are among the rarest of rabbit breeds. The American Livestock Breeds Conservancy lists them as critically endangered and the last survey conducted found 304 total rabbits; 200 Blues, 104 Whites. I was lucky enough to find some recently so I picked up some juniors to start a small...

    Christmas Presents

I did a silly thing this time around and bred 3 does without checking their due dates ahead of time. So of course they all ended up being due around Christmas. Oh well, you live, and you learn. Always check the calendar before breeding. Anyway, I have babies pictures.... Here's 5 silver fox...

    Farm Shows

So the Penn State Farm show is coming up and I was looking into entering. Its the first time we've shown in a farm show so I've been reading up on the catalog. The gist of it is that its a one day show, but if your rabbit places they stay on with the show as part of the display for about a week...

    Litter Complications

I've been raising rabbits for a little over a year, and while I try, I'm in no way an expert about the hobby. That said, I've yet to loose a live-born kitten due to complications in its first few weeks of life and I have this forum as well as several yahoo groups to thank for that.:) (BTW...

Trying out the new camera *pic heavy*

I had some of the rabbits out for play the other day and I figured I'd try out the new camera. This is Homer. He's a big boy. He's in a bit of a molt so his silvering isn't ideal, but normally his coat is very pretty.:) (when silver fox molt their fur turns brown before it falls out) This...

    Little Puffballs (baby pictures)

Took some pictures of our babies for our sales page....they're so cute, I don't want them to go! Anyway I thought I'd share the cuteness. Enjoy!

    Hmm...that can't be right...

Hey everyone, I've begun acquiring foundation stock for satin angora. Since they are a rare breed its been slow going but I was fortunate enough to do business with a breeder who has a good reputation within our region. Anyway, we purchased two 8 week kits from her. One Broken red (or tort)...

    Animal Planet supports rabbit abandonment???

I recently viewed and episode of Animal Cops Houston in which a group of rabbits were rescued and “rehabilitated”. The rehabilitator seemed on the right track, she cared for the rabbits, raised them back to health and fixed them. But at the end of the episode these domesticated rabbits were...

    Hi everyone!

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and I just wanted to mention what a refeif it is to find another rabbit loving community which is more accepting. I love rabbits (which is why I've dedicated myself to raising a critically threatened breed) and I've been lurking around a couple other rabbit...
