    A Hay Story

We've had our two buns for 2 years now, and they never cease to crack me up. For Easter this year we got our boys a wicker easter basket and filled it with a mix of timothy and Oxbow's Botanical hay, and they went bonkers over it. Recently I put some regular ol' Timothy in the basket, the exact...

    tug of war

I was hanging out on the floor with Austin (one of our buns), and he was playing with a laundry bag, tossing it around, smoothing it out, etc. I went to pick it up to see what he would do, and he clamped his jaws down on it like he was a dog, and started pulling. We played a little tug of war...

    "Pay attention to me"

This morning as I was getting ready for work Ihear my partner holler from the living room - "What? What did Ido? What!?". Our boy Simon apparently was feelingignored and THUMPED him. Any of you who are familiar withSimon may know that he has one bad leg (from a break that mis-healed ina previous...

    Bunitude and thumping

This morning as we're getting ready to leave forwork we had a heck of a time convincing our fella Austin that it wastime to go to his "house" (cage). He was mighty comfy in oneof his favorite spots in the living room, under an end table, and madeit very clear to us that he was not ready to go to...

    Bizarre bonding behavior?

Last night my partner & I had another bonding session with our two male rabbits (both are fixed adults). A quick background: We adopted the two as a bonded pair who were inseparable until last September, at which point they began fighting. We think the fight started from the scent of some ear...

    Trip to the vet

Our fellas are due for their annual trip to thevet. They have been separated since last September, and we'venot yet successfully re-bonded them. I know some ofyou have mentioned a ride in the car as a means of possibly bonding apair. I'm wondering if it would be safe to put these guys ina...

New behavior, not sure what to think

Hi folks - Last night our rabbit Austin started thumping in his cage.Typically if he thumps it's a one-time deal, most likely because he'smad about something. Last night's thumping wasdifferent. It was a louder than usual single thump, repeatedevery 30 seconds to a minute. This lasted for about...

    Carrots

Our rabbits are cuckoo for carrots (as rabbitswill be). I think they'd eat carrots all day if they could, but I try to restrict their carrot intake because of the high sugarcontent. Typically they will each get about 1/4 carrot each,2 or 3 times a week. On days when they get carrots I...

    Bunny circles?

In bunny language, does this mean anything? Last night I was lying on the living room floor, just watching our rabbit Austin do his thing. He came over to me, stood for a few seconds, and then started circling me, first in a slow jog, and then in a running/binky/racing mode. It was very cute...

    Cleaning water bottles

Hi everyone - My bunnies each have a water bottle attached to their cage. So far all I've done when cleaning is rinse the bottle with very hot water, because I'm nervous about using any type of soap. Any suggestions on what to use? How often do you clean water bottles? Jeff

    Sweet bunny kisses

I got my first bunny kisses on the face tonight from my boy Simon. He's licked the bejeezus out of my robe in the past, but never my face. I was giving him some fresh hay in his little treat bin, and I stuck my face down to kiss him on the head, and he started licking my nose!! It was so...

    Petromalt

Our bunnies *love* Petromalt (forhairballs). Next to bananas it's the treat they will mostkill for. My question: is it safe to feed thebunnies Petromalt on a somewhat steady basis? We give ourguys about a quarter to half inch every other day, sometimes everydayif they are shedding. Anyone else...

    Happy Trancing

Like many rabbits, our boys detested beingpicked up when we first adopted them. They arefeeling better about it nowadays, but they still much prefer being onthe ground. Anyway, in a previous vocation mypartner Leo was a full time massage therapist. Need I saythat this is a skill that the bunnies...
