Taking Sammy to the vet- need good vibes sent!

Sammy is back home now! The CT showed the bump on his bottom left jaw was actually not a whole lot bigger than last time (yay!) and the right side, where he he has had his previous abscesses looks so much better. Now, the vet does want him back in about a month for a tooth trim since a bunch of...

Taking Sammy to the vet- need good vibes sent!

Alright, today is the day. I have NOT been looking forward to this, and actually trying to rationalize my way out of it. I drop Sammy off here soon (btwn 7:30 & 8 my time), his CT is at 11, I believe. Then, if they need to perform a dental procedure that will be at about 1pm, I believe. Today is...

Taking Sammy to the vet- need good vibes sent!

Update- Upon exam, the vet thought the new bump (which was not there a month ago) was too hard to be an abscess, so no surgery tomorrow. Yay! Unfortunately, since we don't know what it is, he'll be getting a CT scan next Friday (their earliest opening) followed potentially by surgery or maybe...

Taking Sammy to the vet- need good vibes sent!

Hi everyone, I posted in the general discussion recently about my Sammy's issue with a possible dental abscess and thinking about fundraising. I didn't get any feedback on it and ended up not starting a fundraiser. Anywho- Sammy has a checkup this morning to see if the bump I found on his chin a...

    Fundraising sites for potential surgery

Hi all, It has been awhile since I've posted on here- things have been busy! Last I believe I wrote, my Sammy (will be 5 in January) was getting ready for dental surgery to remove an abscess. Well, that went successful, thank the good Lord! Unfortunately, a year later, while close to my due date...

Acorn veterinary in Davis, do you like it?

I LOVE Acorn! I cannot speak highly enough of them. They won't be able to neuter there, however since it is a small practice, so they'll have you go to UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. Went there for a neuter and a spay and they were great.

My Little Man with an Abscess

Sammy's hole closed up over the weekend and scabbed over. It looked like there was fur stuck in the scab, so I peeled out what was loose, but didn't want to cause more harm than good so just left it because I know we are going to the vet today. This morning there was a spot of puss next to the...

My Little Man with an Abscess

Thanks for the support! It really means a lot. :) Sammy got to come home yesterday. The moment they walked in with him I started tearing up out of joy to have my boy back. We all went into an exam room so the vet could show us the wound. Once she was done I started petting him and was leaning...

My Little Man with an Abscess

Thanks for the story about Sparky. It gave me relief about this whole thing in a way that nobody else has been able to do. Here's an update: The vet called me last night to tell me how surgery went. She just started talking and I sat there trying to absorb it all without freaking out (in the...

My Little Man with an Abscess

My 2(ish) year old neutered male bunny developed an abscess on his lower jaw- seemingly out of nowhere. We immediately took him to our awesome rabbit-savvy vet (4/4) and she said she believed it was an abscess, but also said that the practice doesn't have the advanced skill or tools to take care...

    Papaya what's it good for?

Fresh pineapple is supposed to be good for the same reasons papaya is..but only fresh! I give my boy some dried papaya every now and then- don't know for sure if it's working, but he seems to perk up after not feeling well. :)

Rabbit who doesn't like vegetables OR hay? ( 2 questions)

One of my bunnies doesn't eat most food from my hand. It has to be left for her...or I get the butt. My other bunny, Sammy, doesn't care for hay. He used to be a biiiiggggg alfalfa fan, but we tried switching him and just won't eat the other stuff very much. We have tried 3 different hays for...

    CA Rabbit Savvy Vets

I have been going to Acorn Vet Clinic in Davis, CA since I found Dr. Codino on the HRH website. Both Dr. Kris Codino and Dr. Joy Jackman are wonderful and caring doctors there! I love that place! (www.acornvetclinic.com) I have gone to the UC Davis Vet Medical Teaching Hospital (in...

    Hay

I buy Oxbow brand hay for my bunnies from a local pet store (only one in the area that sells this brand). The oxbow site has info on their different hays, nutritional info and whatnot. I have found that Orchard Grass is nutritionally about the same as Timothy...

I have a couple of things I need help with...

Thanks everyone! Update today: My husband brought Daisy back to the vet yesterday for some more fluids. The tech there was saying that they have been having several bunnies come in this time of year that are shedding to prepare for a winter coat and thus getting hair in their digestive tract...

I have a couple of things I need help with...

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I never thought to use a restaurant buffet dish- brilliant!! I'll definitely look into the rack if the eating carefresh thing continues. She only really started it over the weekend when her appetite went away. Are there different kind of wood litter pellets...

I have a couple of things I need help with...

My little girl, Daisy went into the vet today. Her eating (and therefore pooping) has gone way down all of a sudden. I think it has something to do with the HUGE shed she has begun. Anyway, we went to one of my rabbit savvy vets this morning with a bunch of questions that even she was stumped...
