    slowly losing good litter habits

i ended up taking him to the vet today and they said essentially the same! basically he experienced a bit of stress recently, and took up drinking water as a repetitive coping habit. in return, he's been peeing a lot which changed the colour of his pee etc. other than that, he's in perfect...

    slowly losing good litter habits

i now definitely think an exam would be good for him! and he was neutered in May. he moved into my flat with me in April and the change in house etc. caused him to start peeing on my bed, so i got him neutered and that completely stopped any peeing issues up until now

    slowly losing good litter habits

the new litter box has been the only recent change, and the sudden change back to his old one may have further upset him! the clear urine was also a slight worry for me as usually it is a bit cloudy or yellow. his increase in water intake also worried me a little but honestly i couldn't...

    slowly losing good litter habits

thanks for the reply! while i am concerned about bladder issues, i'm just confused as to why the peeing out of the box is only occurring at night or while i'm out, which makes it seem like a behavioural issue. even after changing back to the smaller box, which is only about 6cm off the ground...

    slowly losing good litter habits

i was thinking it could be dental or urinary, but he's still eating and chewing seemingly fine (however i understand that rabbits hide illness very well.) he also is just as active as ever. it just seems like he is purposefully peeing right outside his box, but i've read some rabbits do this to...

    slowly losing good litter habits

hi everyone, my bunny Lemon is suddenly losing his good litter habits! i got him a new, much bigger, litter tray and he started peeing outside his box (but in the same area) as i think he was protesting against the box's higher sides. fair enough! so i changed back to his original smaller box...

    gas or something more serious???

thanks for that. i called the emergency vet last night who suggested i give him 0.45ml of metacam, which i did. this morning he is more active and not laying down, and loafing more normally. there was a lot of poop in his cage and some in the litter box. i bought him a new, bigger litter box a...

    gas or something more serious???

hi all, today my lemon has been out of sorts. he's laying down a lot, some teeth grinding. drinking water and eating but barely pooping at all. (peeing seems normal.) he is still alert and gets very excited for treats and grain, as usual. however, he is never usually laying down this often...

HUGELY increased appetite after GI stasis??

maybe its just the normal amount of food in a shorter amount of time, i've noticed that when i give him extra greens for example, he actually doesn't eat them again till later on. his food hasn't changed at all. he's munching happily on hay right as i'm typing this so fingers crossed i'm just...

HUGELY increased appetite after GI stasis??

i feel like i'm going crazy! he's still super active, completely normal poops, but i feel like he's hunching not loafing and sprawling in a bad way. also slightly squinted eyes, but maybe he's just relaxed? if he was still unwell would he be eating so much, peeing and pooping normally?

    Bunny weird poop, not cecotropes!

i'm not the most experienced rabbit owner but the poop and digestive health of rabbits is extremely important. the fact that their poop has been off for multiple days now suggests you should definitely take them to the vet as soon as you can, like JBun has said multiple times. good luck :)

HUGELY increased appetite after GI stasis??

Hi everyone! Lemon recently suffered his first bout of GI stasis. Took him to the vet for critical care and pain meds, and he's back to full health. However, in his recovery his appetite has increased massively. I've never seen him so excited for fresh hay and new veggies before, but now he's...

danger in neutering at 4 yrs old?

hi guys, i have lemon booked in for a neuter in a couple of weeks. he is four years old, and suddenly displaying hormonal and territorial behaviour (marking my bed and running around my feet in circles etc.) the vets i will be taking him to are the rabbit specialists in my area and say they...

eating no veggies but more hay??

thanks for the responses guys! i don't feed him a lot of spinach or kale, and he also gets other veggies as well (all off approved lists of what rabbits can eat, don't worry!) and he doesn't eat a whole lot of any vegetable, a few leaves here and there but not bowl fulls. i'm thinking maybe he...

eating no veggies but more hay??

hi guys! my bunny lemon sort of suddenly stopped eating his veges and also is eating less of his grain, but has started to eat a lot more hay. is this normal? he's never been super into veges but i'm worried that he's stopped eating them all together, all he eats are blueberries, tomatoes or...

are bath mats okay as toys?

hi guys, i'm wondering if bath mats are okay toys for rabbits? lemon currently has one that he likes to dig and pull the fluff out of, its made of long-ish hair fabric. he doesn't eat any of it, just leaves the hair in piles. is this okay? i originally just used it to protect my carpet and...
