Buy your hay in a bale. I just paid $17 for a 90 pound bale of hay. I was paying that amount for about 3-4 pounds of pet store hay! I have a DIY hay rack on Smudge's cage and I refill it with fresh hay everyday. He is a baby but he LOVES the hay. I haven't had to do anything to encourage him...
Make your own! There are lots of tutorials online for diy bunny toys. My bunny likes those way more that the store bought toys. :-)

I scrub cages and litter boxes out with dishsoap after soaking in vinegar. I always do this outside so that the vinegar smell isn't too annoying. The soap makes the smell of vinegar go away and makes me feel better about the actual disinfecting.

Do Californians count? My boy has few eyes and is mostly white. He just has the gray points. :-) I purposely searched out for a Californian baby because I had the breed before and they are always lovely, funny rabbits. Smudge is no exception. He is funny, smart, and already is fitting in so...
Great. The no moisture should be easy, weave in the desert. :-) I have a huge Rubbermaid container that will hold it nicely I think.

I just purchased a bale of Bermuda grass hay. It was much cheaper for me to buy a bale than to continue buying small bags of store bought hay. I did this before for my previous rabbits and the hay lasted us for a while. I want to make sure I a storing this new bale properly though so that I...
Just pellets, lol. He is so impressed by them that he will do almost anything for a few pellets at this point. :-)

We did something similar this afternoon except we ended up using baby gates to contain him in one bunny proof area. Thanks for the suggestion!

Smudge will have been with us for one week tomorrow. We have progressed nicely with litterbox training. He only pees in the box, no accidents in the rest of his cage. He will take treats from our hands and let us rub his head or his sides while he eats. I would like to start letting him start...
Just made a super cheap and easy hay rack for Smudge. I used a stackable bin from the dollar store, poked two holes and each side and zipper tied it to the cage. It cost me a dollar and holds much more hay than the little tiny one I was going to buy at Petsmart.
I just thought I would...
Smudge is here and he is lovely. He is settling in nicely. He is quite comfortable in his new home and let me pet him for a while today and took a few pellets from my boyfriend's hand.
We have him in an XL large dog crate with his litter box, toys, food, etc. We will be adding a second...
Here is my newest baby, Smudge. He is a baby Californian. We just picked him up yesterday afternoon. He is seven weeks old.

I have my new baby. His name is Smudge. We had settled on a few names that we liked: Oreo, Smudge, and Charlie. He was definitely a Smudge. The second I chose him, his name jumped out at us. :-)
