    pellet vs pellet

The wood fuel is likely hardwood as it will last longer when burning. It wasn't really meant to be bedding (if it's what I am thinking of). Also you'd use bigger quantities as fuel, so it is likely sold cheaper to go with that. Kinda like buying hay for horses vs buying a hay bag/box at the pet...

Haven't been active here in a few days

You did an amazing things trying to save these guys, and though you lost them you did remarkably well. I think that perhaps we can all learn from your experiences. Certainly if I ever have to rescue wild bunnies I will know to wear gloves. Not that I plan to remove wild bunnies from their...

Kinda what type of rabbit :)

Cool, good to know she might be older. The rough hair though is because she was nesting and pulling hair... and she's shedding a lot at the moment too. Being a stray I've had no clue as to age. I knew she was mature, but otherwise... Whatever her breeding she sure is cute :) And a...

    Name ideas

My little baby bunny just might be staying here more permanently, so I feel it's about time that I call her something other than "bunny bunny". Her mom's name is Alice, and it would be neat to keep it somewhat in theme. The baby girl is all black, so a bit of an "opposite" to her mom who is...

    Update on Alice and babies

So, Alice definitely was only having a false pregnancy. Everything is back to normal. I am very much relived  A couple of days ago I decided to separate the boy and girl baby bunnies. I know they can become sexually mature around 12 weeks, so just in case... The boy is now...

    Hello from Ontario, Canada

farmerchick, that's so cool that you are so close :) As for Alice, she's definitely not having babies :) The babies were weaned at 6 weeks+ (over a few days), so no chance of sexual maturity. I've separated the boy and girl babies now and Alice is happily living with her daughter for the...

Kinda what type of rabbit :)

Hmm, not sure about whether I can get either one spayed. I'd like to, but hubby pays the bills and he's not really wanting to spend it on a bunny he picked up on the side of the road... I'm really hoping both remaining babies will find homes, but I have no way to keep three bunnies seperately...

    Babies again?

Well, no babies yet. She goes through an active stage, then is quiet as usual. I'm pretty sure it must be false. I can't imagine any tame bunnies running around here - too many coyotes. I was more worried about a wild bunny, but since that's not possible... Must say it is a relief :)

Kinda what type of rabbit :)

Yeah, I think it's permanent. I'm working on homes for the babies, I have 2 left, but might have a home for one now (the remaining boy). At least that only leaves me a girl if I do need to keep her. That way I can try them together. How long post-weaning before re-introducing a mom to her baby...

    Babies again?

Even when neutered? oh boy Though once she's spayed I will know for sure it is false. I just know that when a critter wants to be bred it can happen... it's happened with the horses before - mares somehow like to escape just to go visit my stallion who is happily hanging out in his own paddock...

    Hello from Ontario, Canada

Yup, Buckhorn isn't far from here :) I'm glad my hubby thought to stop for Alice. As much as I don't need more pets, I'm happy to have her. Alice has gone as far as pulling fur and everything... it's a lovely nest. I don't feel anything... so I'm hopeful :)

Kinda what type of rabbit :)

My husband picked our bunny, Alice, up off the side of the street. She is white with some orange patches on her bum. Her eyes are blue. Being female and loose she was of course pregnant, so she had 4 babies, three of which are black, one was orange and white brindle. The one black had a white...

    Hello from Ontario, Canada

Thanks for the welcome :) I am really hoping it is a false pregnancy, it would be a huge relief. Ideally I want to find homes for all the babies, I have enough critters here already, another bunny wouldn't be too bad, but one is best. In addition to Alice I have: Lola - chinchilla, Flower -...

    Babies again?

I really hope you guys are right. She's fully lined her nest with fur now. I can't feel anything, but I'm not exactly a vet lol. I've been so careful, or so I thought... I don't know what type of bunny she is, I'm guessing something like a Rex, but I didn't know that they can't cross with wild...

    Hello from Ontario, Canada

Hi there. I've only had rabbits for a few months. My husband is the guilty one - he brought her home ;) He was driving to work one morning (running late at that) when he saw a white rabbit hopping along the road. White? Wild rabbits are not white... so he stopped, walked up to her, she looked at...

    Babies again?

So, I am new here, but I have a bit of a situation. My husband found a stray bunny along the side of the road when heading to work one day. He kindly took her in and we tried to find her owner. Of course, when I discovered it was a girl I assumed the "worst" - that she was pregnant. Sure enough...
