What is this behaviour?

So my rabbit did a weird thing. It was more impressive than alarming. We've been trying to litter train, but as he is young, to young for neuter, and I have low expectations. He does well though. Anyways him and I had a battle for 2 days about where his food dish goes because he likes to use the litter and the corner. I gave up and took it as that's just the way it is. Last night I made the mistake of putting it in the corner and I woke up to every pellet shredded, not just the top, EVERY pellet and pee in the dish and on the side and on the ground.
All I could do is laugh and wonder What did I just find?
Was it anger? Just curious if anyone else experienced this.

He's not happy with you. You've angered him, and now it's pay back time. No, just joking.

It could be for a number of reasons:
You've put the food where he likes to pee.
He's young, restless and inquisitive.

He's testing you,seeing what he can get away with also he would probably like his food where he goes to the bathroom.
