Hi everyone,
My bun has sore hocks what should I do, can it be cured completely?
Here’s a photo she’s laying down

I don’t think that its sore hocks at this point. More like ‘Callouses’? Something that begins with c.
Apollo has them too due to abrasive flooring (my carpet). I covered the floor up with blankets and it got no bigger or no smaller and that was two months ago. It could be due to the flooring, due to weight, and I think some rabbits just get them. What breed of bunny is it? Rex rabbits are prone to them because of the thin fur on their feed.

You don’t think they are? And she also uses carpet and memory foam mats that are made for restroom I’m thinking of buying more to cover the carpet for her lol. I don’t know her breed but she’s for sure not a Rex. She has all black fur with strands of whites:)

Are her feet bleeding or splitting open? Splitting might be the wrong word, are her feet cut? We had Apollo’s checked by the vet when we he had a health check about a week after I saw them. They said that it wasn’t sore hocks at the moment and didn’t give anything for it, and his feet looked just like hers.

I checked through my whole camera roll and apparently haven’t taken any pictures of his feet on my phone.

so these pictures are pretty bad quality but I hope you can see. They also look worse than they are but I can’t take a picture right now.

This may not be the case but it’s just in my personal experience. If it gets worse or you have worries, have a vet check it out

It’s not bleeding or anything just pink and bald. Thanks for a replying and aww ;D nice photos I think from the pictures they also look like yours too, I feel better know that it’s okay. Do rabbits always have a bald spot under their feet?

Not all rabbits get bald spots on their feet. But it is quite easy for them to get them. Apollo had them before I adopted him but they weren’t a big deal. He’s also a Rex rabbit so they are a little more prone to getting them. If you have carpet in her enclosure, you might find it better for her feet to cover them up. I just use two old blankets and that is enough for my room. Just keep watching them and making sure they don’t get any bigger and if they cut.

Rabbits schould not have bald spots on their feet, hard floors are one reason for fur loss and that their hocks get sore. I covered all hard floors in my house with rugs and cardboard, and I need to fence off the asphalt area of the yard again.

Are they red like bleeding and cutting open or a little sore looking?
They aren’t bleeding or cut to me but let me check again. I’m going to get a picture.
Is there something that I can use that I can treat at home? I seen creams and Chlorhexidine that said treats It but that will take a long time to arrive in the mail!

It looks really red.

Do you know what the cause could be?

Are her nails really long? Is she overweight? Is it the flooring? Or it could just be that she thumps too often!

I’m not exactly sure on what could treat it at home. What I would do is maybe talk to an online vet (I don’t know if they charge money for it but I doubt they do), or you could maybe call your vet. Just ask what they think you should do. More than likely they’d ask for you to come in but they might not.

this one is good! :https://www.thecapecoop.com/sore-hocks-in-rabbits/

I do recommend getting a vets opinion. But I know it can get a little pricey if you go too often. If it worsens or cuts, definitely get her to a vet as it may get infected!

Good luck!

I know right it does look really red..-.-
I trimmed her nails not so long ago a week ago I say, but she’s not over weight. I have carpet though I feel like that’s a problem, when I first got her I thought carpet flooring was better because it’s soft than tile I was wrong.
I seen on the websites you send I can use Neosporin for now that’s all I have.
I will call vet tomorrow morning there closed, vets do get pricey for sure I took her three times in January [emoji51] I spent a lot but If it’s for her anything.
