So sorry Crystal. :(

Is he rubbing it? Acting depressed at all?

I don't want to worry you, if its a cataract, it can be left until Tuesday, but a corneal ulcer is really painful.

Another possibility is an abscess behind the eye, and that really can't be left either. Fast treatment is pretty crucial.

sas :hug2: :clover:

Thank you sas, I was trying to wait up for you last night, hoping you'd have some insight. He's not in pain, so as far as the corneal ulcer, I don't think. Plus, it was covering almost the whole eye, tonight, it's not, right in the middle though.

He's acting normal, eating normal.

Just want to update, he's doing well, and still acting normal and what not. Therefore, I don't think it could be an abcess, he'd be in pain. And he's fine, a happy bun, so, we have an appt tomorrow at 4:45, I will update you all tomorrow night.

Thank you!:)

I hope it's either blindness or something simple some eye drops can handle. We're so worried about him. Little man rules.:D

That's the main thing Crystal..as long as Snuff is still doing fine

Blind bunnies do really great..and since it's just the one eye..he will do just fine..if it is just cateracts.

My bunny Luluwho went totally blind..taught me a lot about owning a blind bunny...even though she couldn't see..it didn't stop her from jumping up on the lounge to come sit with me....now my boy Cassidy.

All the best for tomorrow..will be thinking of you and Snuff.

Aww, Cheryl, thanks so much! I'm a bit worried as you know, poor Snuff butt. Thanks a ton for all your advice. It's really helped me from freaking out.

I'll let you know first thing after the vet tomorrow.:D:hug:

It's strange actually cause while it will be tuesday for you..it's wednesday for me lol

But yeah..i know your worried...and i'll be waiting...

Sending lots of positive vibes for Snuff....he has a great mum

Thanks Cheryl.

Well, the update is: It's a cataract. That's about the news I was hoping for. The doc said it could be genetic or even could be caused by EC. So, now we just watch for those symptoms. I am planning to ask Randy if he's ever had a bun with Cataracts which resulted from EC. Other than that, he's a healthy bun! I don't plan on having it removed, it's must to costly and if he's not in pain, fine w/ me. I don't want to have him put under unnecessarily.

If anyone has had this situation which was the result of EC, let me know. I doubt that's the issue, as did the doc.;)

Thank goodness that's all it is Crystal..i mean that is bad enough..but you know what i mean..it's just good to hear it wasn't anything serious.

When both my bunnies Lulu and Cassidy went blind i did think about EC as well..but Lulu never showed any other symptoms when she was alive and Cassidy hasn't showed any othersymptoms either...not like my Pippi did when he was alive,he had nearly all the symptoms of EC...but then Pippi never had any eye issues like thateither...so i suppose you just never know i guess...

The vet did say the exact same thing to me that it's probably just a genetic thing...but Cassidy is Pippi's son though..

Well anyway..i'm sure you and hubby are a bit more relieved now that you guys have some answers.

Absolutely relieved, Cheryl. Thank you for everything, again, you're the best!

I just didn't think it was cataract as it looks more white than an opaque look I would think for a cataract to be, ya know? That's even better than "blind" to me. From what I've read, it's like seeing through a fog, therefore, not completely blind. Yay!;)

Another thing I want to add to this thread for future purposes for others is this:

He has a nice, big, two level NIC cage. He quit going upstairs about 2-3 months ago. Always sitting in front of his door too, weird. We thought maybe he got spooked upstairs and just wouldn't go back up. Well, now we know, it's because of the cataract I think is why he wouldn't go up there. That makes sense now.:) We make a note of that at the vet, guess what he does when we get home and he's back in his cage??!!??!! Goes upstairs!!!:rollseyes Just had to prove us wrong, haha. Goofy boy.:p

Yeah things do usually fall into place when you find out something is wrong with your bunny...but glad to hear he's going back up onto the second level..

This is what I said earlier, but it's funny. Why did that little bun try to prove us wrong now? You little, you know..bunnyman!:D

Just wanted to mention that EC can cause cataracts, but the eye issues I've seen in conjunction with EC are more like white blobby things in the eye--not a film over the entire lens.

Oh boy, that's not good news.:( That's why I didn't think it was Cataract, cuz it's more whte...oh dear...Thank you though!

I also just remembered something I'd read. With EC, isn't there a more pungent odor to the urine? Cuz, I've been noticing that, and just before I found I eye issue.:(

Hi Crystal,

Just wondering how gorgeous Snuff is going?

Aren't you the sweetest, Cheryl!

He's going good! Although, I swear I heard him fall over in his cage tonight, he doesn't go upstairs, so not sure what it was. Did you notice this with EC? I told hubby this could be a symptom, the loss of hind leg feeling, or hind quarter paralysis, and such.:(

My first bun developed glaucoma in both eyes very suddenly; it was bizarre. Both eyes turned from a dark brown to a cloudy purplish blue .
Itook him to an eye specialist in Chicago and he was diagnosed there ;the doctor told me thatI should check his pupils in a dark room at home when he was relaxed by shining a flashlight in each each pupil to see if the pupil would constict whenexposed to light (which is normal)
Sometimes pupils will not react normally when a rabbit is highly stressed (like in a vet office)

They could have done surgery if his pupils had constricted but they didn't and he was totally blind.
he was older and adapted very well as he knew my apartment well anyway but still tended to hang out in the same area( he was free roam) .

Idon't think that he suffered from being blind;

just did not have to look at the mess in that apartment any more.

Hey Crystal,

That's great to hear that Snuff is doing great, that's a bit odd why he's not going upstairs though..hmm.

When Pippi had hind leg paralysis..the first thing i noticed is he would drag his left hind leg ocassionally and he would lose his balance.

Maybe Snuff was justplaying aroundin his cage.

I thnk he was as he is goofy, Cheryl, but it worries us when that sound happens. Ya know? A scuffling of sorts, not good...

Oh boy, you guys, bumming. Was checking Snuff out tonight cuz of his skin thing, which I think he's doing to himself, btw. He has a cataract in the other eye now it seems, but smaller. Like, when we take him outside, the daylight makes the one he has very small, this is like that...:(

Also wondering if these cause a loss of litter habits, he's peed in his hidey house a couple times over the past few weeks and is pooping everywhere...:(
