We went bowling tonight and came home to Snuff having what I believe to a Corneal Ulcer in his eye, it has a huge white thing over most of his eye. I'm trying not to freak out.

What are your experiences, knowledge.

How urgent is this? What does it mean about his health?

Thanks!

I'm sorry to hear that Crystal...

This is my Cassidy who is totally blind....i thought i would just show you a picture of him to see if that is what it looks like or not..

Cheryl, kinda, yes. Is it like white though? I need your help, hubby is freaking out and very upset and I don't know what to do! Can you help with some words of wisdom? I am to blame cuz when I noticed it I started crying.

Help.:(

It's ok Crystal...try not to get upset..i know easier said than done cause i cried as well...but Cassidy is my second blind bunny that i have had..my Lulu also went blind when she was alive..and i cried then also....but it will be ok..

If snuff is going blind..he will do just fine...is it just theone eye?

Cassidy is blind in both eyes and once he got used to his blindness..he was just fine...a blind bunny or partly blind bunny can do most things just like a normal seeing bunny....just keep everything in it's place..where Snuff knows where his things are.

When i took Cassidy to the vet to be checked out when he first went blind the vet gave him a diabetes test..just to rule that out...the vet did the same thing to Lulu...but it came back negative thankgod. Yes Cassidy is blind in both eyes and his eyes are white...

Crystal from that picture it does look like Cassidy's eyes...but i'm also not 100% sure either if something else is going on.

You are a great bunny mum..Snuff is in good hands

Like i told you in pm...things will be ok...it's natural to worry...Snuff is your little baby..and of course your scared...i know that..but just remember i will always listen to you.

And i'm always there for you...don't forget that

Many many hugs to you

You're the best!!

Cassidy is totally blind..but he has no issues with finding his water bowl either...he knows when it's tea time and everything...sometimes he will get lost in direction though but not very often..i just call his name.

Just don't leave anything unusual in his way..but if it's just the one eye..he should be fine anyway...my Cassidy gets around just fine.

Have you checked Snuff's other eye?...is that one ok?

Oh yeah, I looked at the other one immediately. No, it looks great. I just don't know how I didn't catch this!! It just shows up white one day?!

Just to explain to everyone, and you Cheryl. My first bun, before I had this forum, was diagnosed with chf. He'd had what to looked to me to be cherry eye, prolapse of third eyelid. So, that's why when I saw that tonight, I freaked out. I mean, I cried like he was dying...

That's veryunderstandable Crystal..it's just an automatic worry..i do the same thing

When myPippi died from health issues due to EC..i thought my Charlie girlmay have had it as well..i worried like anything..but she didn't..just other issues...so yeah it's a natural thing.

I just saw it tonight, so we haven't seen anyone yet. Probably not til Tuesday, which Cheryl said would be fine.

So sorry Crystal. :(

Is he rubbing it? Acting depressed at all?

I don't want to worry you, if its a cataract, it can be left until Tuesday, but a corneal ulcer is really painful.

Another possibility is an abscess behind the eye, and that really can't be left either. Fast treatment is pretty crucial.
