Any recommendations for good informational books pertaining to rabbits? Thanks! :big wink:

Rabbits for Dummies is a good overall book. Lucile Moore's new edition of her Rabbit Nutrition book is supposed to come out "early" this year. Frankly, I think House Rabbit Handbook is a bit dated, spending too much time saying, yes, rabbits make good house pets.

I like the house rabbit handbook (mine is very old), and rabbits for dummies too. The advantage of the dummies book is it's offered as an e-book too if you're into that sort of thing. I prefer e-books myself, they take up way less room. :dude:

I was just looking into the subject lastnnight myself. Is there a book that covers all aspects of rabbits, their history, the science of and rabbit raising by pet homes and breeders? One book doesn't have to cover all that, just that's the into I'm looking for.

I recently got this book. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007JZY8IY/ref=kinw_myk_ro_title and so far it is pretty good (I have only gotten a little ways through). The author is telling you his personal experience with rabbits and the mistakes that he made. He is known as "The Bunny Guy" (or something like that). He offers some really good advice.

Funny you should say that! I was just looking at that book and wondering :D I just am shy to buy a book because they all seem to cover the same VERY BASIC information. I'm looking for something in depth...that probably doesn't exist or isn't very wide spread...I can't imagine a huge demand :spintongue

Hee, hee. Yes, this was the book I got just before buying my very first rabbit. That was about 25 years ago, so, yeah, I guess it could be dated!

I still have it but I actually haven't looked at in years. It was, however, invaluable to me as a first-time bunny owner way back then.

When I want to know something about rabbits I reach for my copies of "Raising Better Rabbits & Cavies" and "The Standard of Perfection" both are ARBA books and I have a lot of faith in these books.

To get really good coverage you're going to need more than one book. Some will have good care info, others specialise in diet or behaviour or breeding. Quite a few are very outdated - for practical information on care you are often better with magazine/online articles.

I second the previous recommendations! I also really enjoy the articles and information in Rabbits and Rabbits USA magazines!
