Today I was brushing both of my bunnies and one of them I think is molting. Does this look normal? My other bunny is has a few patching spots that is missing but nothing to major. Once I started to brush this bunny, he almost became bald and some spot is fully bald. It looks normal but I want someone else opinion. I didn't brush hard or anything that would rip hair out. I didn't even finish brushing this bunny in fear that he will be fully naked.

Update: I finished brushing him and now he looks like this. Please help and tell me if this is normal? There is alot of spot that is bald and some places that really short hair. Photos don't show how bad it is in real life. He's acting fine and cleaning himself right now. He doesn't seem sick or in pain either. He's a year and a few months old.

Is there any dandruff, scaly, or irritated skin? Or is it normal pink smooth skin? What kind of comb/brush do you use?

From what I can see there is no dandruff, dry or irritated skin. It's his normal pinkish/whiteish skin and super smooth. I used this brush on both bunnies

If you weren't overly aggressive with the comb, then most likely he's just going through a really heavy molt. Even though it's not common, some rabbits can molt so much, to the point of practically going bald. In case it could be something else going on there, I would just keep an eye on him for the new growth starting to come back in. But right now it just looks like normal heavy molting. If it's as hot where you are as it is around here, he's probably loving his new 'summer' coat :p

That's a relief to hear. I will for sure keep an eye on him to see any new growth. How long should I expect to wait and see new hair growth?

He really went through a moult. I saw from the earlier pictures that his long fur has gold/brownish shade to it-that's generally black fur's notification of "Hey, i'm ready to come off." My black-based boys always showed that before i got massive chunks of loose fur off them.
The bald moults that mine have been through usually show signs of regrowing fur in roughly a week or so, the new fur being super short, dense and either silky soft or a bit prickly depending on the patches' locations and the individual rabbit.

Hi! My bunnies are also moulting, my male moults like this sometimes, he never had any irritation, I asked my local vet about it and she compared my bunny to a husky dog, in the sense that he sheds his thick winter coat into a thin summer coat.. though only one of mine does this and I’ve had him nearly 2 years and he hasn’t had any health problems relating to his moulting. I will link a site that shows rabbit moulting, in your case I believe you have a long hair rabbit, and they tend to moult -ALOT- more than short haired bunnies, and usually comes out in clumps rather than stray hairs.. I hope this helps you understand your bunnies moulting better! :) ( Recognizing a Long-Haired Bunny Moult | PetHelpful )
