We have just had our first litter today of MiniRex. We put some soft cotton pillow stuffing in the cage a few weeksago today we happened to notice that she finally had pulled some of herhair we moved the hair and found one dead baby then we move some moreof the cotton stuffing andfound 3-4 more babies. Now what dowe do? We left them covered and now will she uncover them daily andfeed them then cover them back up or what? Do we need to check themever day or several times a day or just leave her alone? Do we need tocheck herto make sure she has milk or just leave heralone?Sorry if this sounds unrabbit like. Thanks for any help you cangive us. My son has been building his 4-H herd and this is the firsttime we have ever tried this.

CongratulationsCFrench!

You don't need to really fuss with the babies other than to check themin the morning to be sure that they have very round, warmbellies. If their bellies are nice and fat, then she'sfeeding them. As long as the babies don't fall out of thenestbox, the doe will most likely care for them unless she's not a goodmom. If the babies are out of the nestbox, the mother willnot move them and she won't care for them generally speaking.

Does usually feed their babies early in the morning (at dawn around5:00 a.m.)and that's the only time that they'refed. You don't need to cover up the babies or maintain thenest as long as the mother has a good amount of fur in there whichkeeps them warm and cozy.

You should check on them at least in the morning to be sure they'rebeing fed. You also might wish to check them at night just tobe sure she hasn't lost any, but that's your call. She'll doall the rest. You don't have to check on her milk, you don'thave to cover the babies if they're in the nest their mommade.

Congratulations! Mini Rex's are gorgeous little bunnies.
