Does anyone know how to tell the difference between a normal dwarf and a Netherland dwarf?

I don't understand what a normal dwarf is? Dwarf is not a breed at least not in the US. When people say dwarf they are normally referring to a netherland dwarf.

Pet stores often use the term dwarf to mean a smaller size rabbit but it is not an actual breed specifically

This link has photos of the various recognized breeds. You might find it interesting. There are only 2 breeds that have the word "dwarf" in their name -- the netherland dwarf and the dwarf hotot. But if you look at the weights listed with each breed photo, you can see a other small rabbits in the 3-4 lb range.

Some people also confuse "mini" with "dwarf". The mini-lop is smaller than the larger lops, but can still get in the 6 lb range. There are other breeds with "mini" in the name also.

Ditto to above answers, but I wanted to add that "Dwarf" is often used to describe any breeds that have the dwarfing gene, including Netherland Dwarfs, Holland Lops, Jersey Woolies, etc. Any of the breeds that commonly produce peanuts(kits that inherit 2 copies of the dwarf gene, 1 from each parent. These generally do not survive longer than 3 days). In these breeds, there is also what is referred to as a Normal Dwarf, Normal, or BUD/BUB(Big Ugly Doe/Buck). These are rabbits that inherited 2 normal/non-dwarf genes. They tend to be larger than the breed standard and have longer heads/ears. The showable rabbits in these breeds are True Dwarfs, which have one normal gene and one dwarf gene.
