Hi everyone,

I was just curious as to how long I should be feeding my bunny alfalfa hay for ?He's 4 months old right now & he's getting fed the Ox Bow Young Rabbit food as well, so I'm not too sure when I need to start getting him off of that & giving him less amounts of pellets either :help

Typically 6 months of age is the transition time. However, anytime you like now you could mix a little timothy hay in with the alfalfa. That can help him begin to get accustomed to it and can make the transition easier.

The pellets can be switched gradually starting at 6-7 months of age.

You can use timothy hay from the day they are born. For me it is easier to manage my hay with just a timothy bale then I could with a timothy and alfalfa bale. So whenever you want to switch up to 6 months of age will work. As with the pellets my rabbits also stay on the pellet they will be on as an adult it has no bad affect on the rabbit. All of my rabbits grow up to be happy healthy buns! :)
