Dexta is at the vet today

In Dexta's case he had a vagina with testicles sitting up just inside, but no uterus. The vet desexed him and said he's perfectly healthy and what he called "an excellent bunny". He said he had to tie off the fallopian tubes and remove the testicles so it was kind of a combined operation, but he...

Dexta is at the vet today

Well here's some more surprising news. Turns out Dexta's a hermaphrodite. He's resting now. He had a little bok choy and I'm keeping him in a quiet room for the night.

Dexta is at the vet today

So Dexta is at the vet to be castrated. As the vet checks him over he announces that Dexta won't be castrated, but speyed instead. Yes Dexta is a her not a he  I have no issue about it of course as Dexta has become a really happy and friendly little bunny, but I've been preparing for a...

    Dexta's progress

I hope it's okay, but I thought I'd create a thread which I can keep updated regarding Dexta's progress. Well I spend a lot of time sitting next to his cage and talking to him. Whereas he use to be timid and shy now he comes to the end of the cage and stands up to say hello to me. I can...

How much water do bunnies drink?

I bought a crock today. Dexta loves it and is drinking very well from it. I'll leave the bottle for him as well, but something tells me the crock is a winner. Thanks for your advice :)

How much water do bunnies drink?

Thanks everyone. As it's winter here it's quite cold and Dexta is eating fresh green veggies like broccoli and bok choy as well as straw and regular rabbit food. The bottle is working because it has a water drop at the end of it most of the time. I'll get him a crock today just in case.

How much water do bunnies drink?

I'm a little concerned. Dexta has a water bottle and it doesn't seem to empty very much. How much water should he be drinking? I know he can use it because he only had a water bottle in the pet store and I've seen him at it.

    Poop everywhere!

I'm having the same issue with Dexta. I'm hoping time, patience and a vet visit in a few months will help too :)

Okay here's Dexta. Not a great pic but he's settling in still while he munches on broccoli

A question about floor covering for cage

I don't know yet if he's a chewer, but I am going to get him some other floor covering like carpet mats, bathroom mats or fleece. Something I can swap around and wash. I guess it'll help with his litter training too because he has a litter box.

    Hi from Australia

Hi Soooska I agree. It's a small clinic and the office is quiet. I'd prefer to wait as well until he settles down and is use to me first. I'll probably take him in a week or so.
