Two Ex-Show Holland Lops Need New Home - Texas

I am, unfortunately, having to give up a couple of my babies. I will be moving in July, and then probably again in December (cross country), and I know the place I'm moving in to will not allow as much space as they have now. Both are male, and they are cousins. One (Toshi) is brown, the...

Putting weight on a skinny bun

Late last year we discovered my then-one-year-old Holland Lop buck seemed to be allergic to pellets(after eating them he will become very lethargic until its out of his system, it's really frightening), and he has been on a straight veggies & hay (and sometimes oats) diet. My mother, for some...

    Crazier after desexing??

Gonna have to go against everyone and warn you this may be permanent... I neutered my first rabbit((my only one to be neutered)) FOUR YEARS ago, and he is the worst behaved male I have ever owned. He will chew on everything, he will dig at everything, he'll mark his territory if there's...

    Neutering Bunny

I neutered one buck, and I will probably never ever do it EVER again. He acts like a hormonal doe, it's terrible. My suggestion, though probably most of the users here will disagree, is to wait until he is a year old to neuter him, if he even needs it. Bucks have always been the most loving...

Kiddie pool/PVC Pen - What to use for flooring?

I actually didn't use any covering on my kiddie pool when I kept my fryer rabbits in there for a month. I'd sprinkle down some litter to soak up the pee and I'd scoop out each side every other day((side one, then side two, then side one, etc.)). They never had a problem with the floor. I also...

Reasons pellets could make a rabbit sick?

tamsin wrote: I thought about that, but we gave him all his regular veggies((which he ate, along with all the hay he normally eats in a day)) and then added in about 1/8 cup of pellets and he still got sick. So wouldn't that mean it's not the case? Or could be a percentage type of thing...

Reasons pellets could make a rabbit sick?

Not sure where this should go, although I guess here is best since he's not immediately sick? I've made a couple posts in the past about Toshi, my one year old Holland Lop, about being sick. He's now on a strict no-pellet diet, only hay and veggies((mustard greens, romaine lettuce, parsley...

This can't be just a hairball...

I feel it is safe to give a solid update now, it has been over three weeks and with a little 'experimenting' I have come to a conclusion. (: It was not a hairball, it is something that was either not in his pellets that he needed, or something in his pellets that he didn't need. Either way...

    free range time

Well it's too hot for outside range time, which is what everyone but Harper gets because no one is litter trained, so no range time except for Harper. :( But he'll be out for days on end, because he's amazingly well trained and I just don't want to bother him. XD Longest he goes is about a...

    Finding rabbits

Are you planning on breeding these all at one time?! That's hardly an easy task! Breeding rabbits in the first place is a difficult thing to do if you want to do it right, and you can hardly expect to do well if you spread your resources over 20 different breeds. You'll need separate cages for...

    No pellet diet??

majorv- Well I'm really doubting the hairball diagnoses, as he had been acting strange on and off since about April, even when we moved inside away from the heat. Whatever it was it's either gone now or was fixed by removing pellets, and I'm not too willing to test and see which one it was...

    No pellet diet??

I posted in the infirmary about my baby Toshi who had((hopefully 'had', and not still 'has'!)) what was supposedly a 'hairball'. I couldn't take him to the vet because I had to leave to go out of town, so I did some super-fast research on what I should have him eat. Supposedly, in my...

Adding in veggies, can you help me out?

Parsley & cilantro. I've never had a rabbit NOT like at least one of those((in over 30 rabbits)). (: Romaine lettuce has never been turned away by any of my rabbits, unless there's medicine on it. :p I have a rabbit on an only-hay-and-veggies diet, and he gets the above plus mustard greens...

This can't be just a hairball...

Gave him a handful of veggies and 2 tsp((10 cc)) of canned pumpkin((on lettuce)), also used a syringe to give him 10 cc of water and 6 cc of gatorade for electrolytes. Going to watch him, and debating if I should have him moved to my rabbit sitter's house so he can be watched closer. :/

    Oh Dear :(

must_love_pets- We've actually been doing that for a few days now((with an oven mitt on)), it seems to be working beautifully! But I do like hearing it is effective, we just tried doing it one day and it calmed her down.
