Hi all my fellow rabbit lovers! In honor of the holidays I wanted to share this free kindle book on Pet Rabbits with you (it's available for free until the 27th of November, then it goes back to its regular price of $5.99)
I hope you all enjoy it and find the info helpful - Happy Thanksgiving...
I would keep an eye on him but not panic. Thursday will be here before know it and he'll be good to go. Just trust your gut :)
Have you thought about learning how to trim his teeth yourself? I know that its not for everyone but I had a freind that had to trim her rabbits teeth and she did it...
I definatly agree with having your bunnies meet at neutral territory. I've found that female rabbits can be super-agressive about thier cage.
You could try swapping their cages and letting Sunflower "hang out" in the cage to try and get Sunflower use to Bahama's scent (with out the threat of...
You'll probably need to wait a few weeks for her hormone levels to return to normal. Ask any woman who's been pregnant and she'll tell you that those hormones will throw you off!
Give it some time and keep being consistent with her normal routine, she'll adjust back to life again :)
I really like carriers with wire sides and tops too because its easy to attach a water bottle or bowl and not have it get all over the place AND they have top-opening doors so rabbits are easy-in/ easy-out. I also live in a hot area and like that these carriers don't get as warm since they have...
Hi to all my bunny friends! I just finished a FREE BOOK on rabbit breeding that you can downlaod (trying to help spread knowledge and care for anyone interested in rabbit breeding). Its available on Amazon starting now till Wednesday for anyone who is interestead - thanks to everyone who...
Try enlisting the help of a friend to hold your bunny in their lap and then pull out just a foot at a time (while he's still sitting there and try to trim that way. I've always found the other people can pet and "distract" the rabbit while you get to it with the nail trimming :)
You'll just have to watch her poo and make sure it doesn't get watery if you feed her the green branches, some times too much "greeny" things change give them diarrhea. If that does happen then start drying the branches for a few days before you give them to her.
I would think that the 1/2 inch sections would be fine, that way your breaking down the sides of the bamboo so that the fibers aren't very long. Give it a try & just keep an eye out for any changes in their poo or dietary track.
And have fun! I know keeping a curious bunny busy can be a lot of...
You have to be careful with bamboo, the stalks can be too fibrous for their system and it can cause intestinal problems (goat have stomachs made from steel and can eat almost anything). A few of the greens, in moderation, should be fine. Just be careful not to over feed these or they can cause...
If you do decide that you want to breed your rabbits down the road I'd recommend reading a book covering Rabbit Breeding Basics (Amazon has several & one of them is only 99 cents) so that you're ready for babies.
Pine should be fine as long as it hasn't been treated with anything (which means most pine planks from your local lumber yard will work great!). If you're going to seal it look for a non-toxic wood sealer like Seal-It-Green or a similar brand (that one is also organic).
Looks like they are both agouti colors but with different shading. The agouti pattern is VERY dominate but other color genes (like shading) can cause the subtle differences that you see in your bunnies. There is also a "red" gene in rabbit colors that can affect the intensity of the "reddish"...
