    Catch 22

He's funny because he will eat out of my hand -- he'll even lick veggie and fruit juice off my hand-- and will walk on me. yet he doesn't want me to touch him and ALWAYS grunts.

How to stop bunnies from pooping and peeing on hay?

hi there, Gren and Shin Shin are "free range" too, with two litter boxes. They both love munching while pooping and peeing, so I put a layer of hay on top of the shredded paper. I get my hay at a feed store in a big plastic bag so it's not nearly as expensive, and it doesn't seem quite so...

    Catch 22

oops, I missed your message while I was writing again. I can spend time with Shin Shin solo out of his territory in a small area every day. I guess I will try that. thank you also for your suggestion about correcting him, because I think he has come to think that his behavior is acceptable...

    Catch 22

thank you for the feedback. :). i wish Shin Shin were just quiet and scared instead of scared and aggressive/dramatic. the good part is that he has never really hurt me, and the one time he did bite my husband, it barely broke the skin. I have never had rabbits before, so this is a mystery...

    Catch 22

hi everyone, so I am still having the same problems with Shin Shin. He still won't let us pet him, he still growls at me while eating from my hand with his ears pinned down. He's been with us since May. yes, neutered, yes, totally bonded with Gren (who is spayed). Patience is making no...

    Still grunting and thumping

thank you for your prompt input. we will keep being patient with him. he is willing to be petted in a new environment (like a room he isn't in very often) -- maybe because he's freaked by a new place? do you think that helps/hurts/ or is neutral? just a little while ago I was laying on the...

    Still grunting and thumping

hi everyone, So we have two bunnies: Grendel, a spayed female bunny about 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 years old who has lived with us about 1 year; and Shin Shin, a neutered male bunny around 1 year old who has lived with us for about 4 months. they are happily bonded with each other, but not with us...

    Stinky neutered boy

thanks everyone-- he did have a vet check within a couple of days that we got him, and all was well at that point. I got derailed from working on our trust issues since one of my cats was dying from cancer -- he was enthanized last week, so now we are working on getting life back together.

    Stinky neutered boy

Well, He is still pretty skittish so that is tricky. both of the buns live in a bunny-proofed room except when they are running around outside. He really really hates being caught, so I try to do it once a week. He says we can hang out together, and he will eat treats from my hand, but he...

    Stinky neutered boy

OK, that's what I was hoping! I have never dealt with this before; is it overkill to take him to the vet for the first cleaning?

    Stinky neutered boy

the smell is like bunny pee with extra muskiness. I think of bunny pee as smelling similar to a stinky human armpit and it's along those lines.

    Stinky neutered boy

Hi everyone, we have had Shin Shin for about 6 weeks now. he is young --probably between 7-12 months and neutered. he eats the same diet as Grendel except that he's a much better hay eater. everything seems good with him except he stinks! we are still getting to know bunnies, and getting...

    rabbit bullying cats

thank you for the help, Karen and Nancy. I think Gren will just be separate while is on his walks.

    rabbit bullying cats

Yes, Grendel and Shin Shin are both fixed. Interestingly, I don't think Grendel did this before she was spayed in February, but I think it has more to do with her settling into her territory than her surgery.

    rabbit bullying cats

good morning, My girl rabbit, Grendel, just went on another rampage, sending the cats racing down the hill in our backyard and Into the house. if she catches up to one, she will ram into it with her ears pinned down-- she totally nails them (so now they run like it's for their lives). I...
