You can put hardware cloth on the outside, it's usually about 1/2"x1/2", definitely baby proof! Just attach with zip ties and then cut it off when the baby gets big enough

I am sure we will want to spay her sooner for hormonal reasons as well. It is good to know her advice is correct on when to spay for health reasons though. I will just make an appointment for six months then and change it to earlier if she gets really hormonal. So far, nothing :)

How high sided is your litter pan? In the cages we have regular large cat pans, but out in the room we have a very high sided (probably 10-12") pan that they love to use and (bonus) hay and poop doesn't get everywhere. I was thinking of getting a pan with higher sides for in the cage as well.

A show coat does sound like quite a lot of work! You are right, it might be smarter to not show angoras and just consider them for the wool/as a pet. I know we were also considering Netherland Dwarf which would be an easier breed to work with.

The grooming really is a little off putting! I already have my hands full with grooming just my lionhead.

Do any angora breeders also sell wool? I am very curious about showing a breed and harvesting wool would be a plus! Not to mention the fact that there are a ton of knitters in my family.

This should work well then, the cage has two levels that are 23" x17" which is a good size and I can always upgrade it to be twice as high and have two full 2' x 6' levels, that would be huge!
