Well when i was the ill the other week and i was having Vic rubbed on me she notcied that the left side of my coller bone was bigger than the other side - like it was swollen but actually on my bone,
so we went to the doctors and she coudn't tell becuase i didn't remember hurting it.

So i had to be booked for an xray but now we have noticed that in photos of me it has always been there,
so i think i might of just been laying funny or it has just become more notciable.

Don't worry - it's nothing to be scared of! My mum is a radiographer and used to x ray people years ago. It's just like they're taking a picture of your insides really.:)And as BBB said, they'll give you a gown.

It'll be ok - don't worry!

(And here's a funny 'Jess anecdote':p - a picture of me as a baby on the x ray machine (turned off of course) used to be hungup in the x-ray department of our local hospital to reassure children who came in. :D)

Oh, ok. I remember now - I just wondered if there was something else going on.

You'll be fine.

Omigosh, I have to relatea story! (First I want to say that having an upper-body x-ray is a cakewalk...;)...I've had a few done over the years and will be the first to admit that I get embarrassed easily when having to disrobe for tests. But every time I've had to get one done, a gown is issued and the technician makes sure the patient's privacy is maintained.)

Okay, sothe followingstorydidn't happened to me, but it happened to a friend of mine several years ago. She had to go for a chest x-ray, and so when she got there the nurse told her to go into one of the little changing rooms set up at the back, remove her upper body clothing, and put on one of the gowns that they provided. She was to then go back to the waiting room, where others who were also waiting for x-rays sat.

So she went into the room and removed her things. She saw the gown hanging on the back of the door, so she put it on, walked out into the room and then stopped. Everyone else sitting there had on plain green gowns, but hers was a rather loud print, flowery and very noticeable. She thought it a bit odd and was quite uncomfortable standing out like that, as she tends to be a very shy person, but she tried not to think about it as she walked across the room and headed for an empty seat. Well, her embarrassment soon was amplified infinitely when a woman who was sitting in one of the seats looked up at her, gave her a look that could kill, and pointed at her, shouting, "HEY!! You're wearing my blouse!!" Apparently the woman had used the same change room and didn't know you were supposed to put your personal belongings in a locker across the hall...and my friend, seeing the woman's blouse hanging on a hook, thought it was a hospital-issued gown. Only my friend could have something like that happen to her...LOL.

Talk about embarrassing...I think I would have melted into the floor on the spot...:baghead

Okay... The xrays today.
Will post what happens when I get back.
By the way Bassetluvs story made me laugh so hard.
That won't happen to me though because the place I'm going is really small and they omnly have one person waiting at a time so that won't happen to me!!!
:)

You will never guess what... Funny Story ... The phone rang earlier but me and Em were out with the buns and Mum was on the loo.
So no one answered it.
There was no message or anything to tell us who it was..

Anyway we dropped my sister off at my nans and carried on to the hospital to get my xray..
We got there and proceeded to the xray room.
There was two ladies there and we said we had an appointment.

They said
"Oh, we tried to contact you earlier, the machine's broken, would you be able to take the xray on friday?"

But as some of you know I am going on holiday on friday for my sisters birthday.

Then my mum said oh, well we might take her back to the doctors again becuase we have been looking at pictures and it looks like she had it 3 years ago as well.
Maybe its just how she is.

So we are going back to the doctors and seeing what she says.

Thanks for everyones support it really means a lot.
xxxxx

That sounds great, BabyBunnies! (So I guess you might not have to be on the lookout for unusual flowery-print gowns in the change room after all...;))

So, you got out of wearing the gown ;)

Had to take my 9 year old in this morning to have his back x-rayed. Matthew was NOT thrilled about having to pull down his pants!

Pam

We just got back from the specialist (we were sent there after our doctor saw Matthew's x-rays). Unfortunately, the news wasn't too good. :(

He's got congenital Spondylolisthesis (basically a crack in the spine allowing a disc in his lower back to slip out of alignment). The orthopedist said he's never seen it in such a young child, and that he hopes aggressive treatment will help to avoid surgery.

Matt will be in a brace for the next 6 months - and no physical activity. :( Not a good way to start the summer . . .

Pam

Oh Pam, i am so sorry to hear. :(What a sucky summer indeed, you guys are so active as well. I pray he will be able to avoid surgery. At least if the 6 months is worth it... Sucks :?

I'm exhausted. The specialist sent us back to our family doctor to further investigate the pain in Matthew's right side and to rule out kidney problems. He's going for an ultra sound 2 weeks from now. (The doctor only has the machine in his office on Mondays and next Monday Mattwill befitted for the brace.)

I think that going to all the doctor appointments will keep us busy enough this summer!

We're certainly going to miss the family mountain bike outings :( We'll find out more about his physical limitations when we go back to the orthopedist.

Pam

oh man, that's terrible! it's really exhausting to have medical problems pop up seemingly out of no where(i don't know if that's the case with y'all, but wheni got diabetes it just sorta..... any way......). i hope they're able to fix it with out surgery.

Anna

Oh, Pam!

Luckily this was caught *early*. I hope his healing goes well and you guys won't go "stir crazy" while he recovers.
