It's been quite a hectic few months recently (i'll explain it all in my blog! Promise!) But for now I want to know what I can do. Recently Luther got a new girlfriend (hes desexed, no babies, she will be once shes old enough) She a gorgeous seal point, mini-lop xDwarf lop.

Shes 7 weeks old now and i've recently noticed she has a bald patch under her chin that wasn't there before.I've been handling her, flipping her on her back and touching her mouth to gether used to it so theres no issues in the future if she needs any other medical treatment and i've not noticed it till now. I assume it's from trying to get her collar off so i've taken it off her in hopes that will help. It was loose and she never choaked on it so it couldn't have been that but i think it just irritated her.

Its a little inflammed and red so i've given her metacam (I use this for my rats so i had some spare thankfully!) and she seems to have perked up a bit. She's still eating, drinking and toileting as normal so it's not stopping her from her every day things but she's not as active as a 7 week old bun should be!

Other then the metacam till I can get ehr to the vet tomorrow afternoon, what else can I do for her. For my rats in this situation i'd usually but some bettadine (anti-septic ointment)on the area to keep it clean but i'm not sure if I can do this for bunnies. What else can I do for her till tomorrow? :(

Was she wearing a collar like the ones for cats? You may want to rethink the practice in general because it's not very safe. Rabbits can break their necks if the collar gets caught before the release lets go (which is why they are ok for cats).

For the question asked, you can put neosporin (plain, no pain relief) on it for the night.

The only reason I tried her with a collar is my boy wears one and I've never had an issue with it (not since sept last year when I got him) so I thought I'd try it on her with a loose but not enough for her to get any paws through it loose to see how she goes. She's been fine till now but she's obviously doesn't like it so I'm happy to leave it off her :) But luthers never had an issue so I'll leave his.

I'll pop to the shops today and get some. Poor thing :(

So it turns put the collar had nothing to do with it :) Were just returned from the emergent vet here and $275 (nothing compared to putting y mind at ease about whats happening) weve now found out that she has a mouth ulcer that has ruptured and was oozing into her mouth and causing inflammation in her gums (hence the bald spot, from rubbing her chin on things to stop the pain!) and may also have to have a tooth grinded down/pulled. She's off to see my specialist bunny vet for that tomorrow morning (one very expensive little girl she is!)

She's been given injections of baytril for ABs and analgesia for pain and inflammation and is on critical care feedings 4 times a day till she's gained a fair amount of weight and is healthier or until the pack is finished. She's just had her first feed and she's MUCH happier :) She took it no worried and lapped it up. Afterwards she fell asleep and is currently passed out, on her back, on my legs while I pat her. She's licking me every now and then and then falling back to sleep :) Sorry the photo is so big. I'll resize it tomorrow when I'm at a computer and not on my phone :)

Perfect pic. Don't change a thing. So glad you found out what was ailing this sweet bunny.

Glad to hear she's resting and hoping your bunny is back to her ole self in no time.

K:)
