I took my female rescue bun coco to the vet a few months ago to get treated for a UTI infection and all went well. Well for the last few days she hasn’t been peeing and pooping in her litter box. I’ve been checking her for the last few days but when I checked her today it was a horror show. Since her bottom side is white it was never perfectly white it was always little dirty but this is awful. I think it’s a UTI again but my one problem is I can’t get transportation to the vet because my grandparents who I live with want me to literally put her down because she’s “too sick” this looks bad and I don’t think I can fix it with a daily deep clean of her bottom and her cage. Nah advice at all? I will post pictures below.

First One is before wash and second one is after a wash

That's actually not that bad, and certainly no reason to be putting her to sleep when all she likely needs is a course of antibiotics to clear it up.

Though with this being a reoccurring issue for her, I would take steps to help prevent it in the future. It could be she is having bladder irritation from excess calcium build up in the bladder(which can lead to a UTI developing), and if so reducing foods high in calcium in her diet should help. Also feeding plenty of low calcium veg like green/red leaf lettuce, etc can also sometimes help because of the high fluid content. Just make sure to introduce gradually and one veggie at a time if it's a new veggie for her. And if she currently drinks from a bottle, change her to a water dish as rabbits drink better from them.

There's this supplement with cranberry that some say has helped their rabbits with bladder sludge issues. Though it would depend on if your bun will actually eat them, which some rabbits seem to not want to. There is also one by oxbow, but I don't like the ingredient list on those as much because of the added grain. So this might be something worth trying. Or you could try and figure out your own urinary support supplementation.

I will certainly get some of that cranberry supplement and give it a shot. She currently gets a little romaine once to twice a week. She drinks form a bowl and I always keep her cage very clean.

I agree with JBun 100%, this situation is very fixable and definitely not a reason to put her to sleep!

Haha tell that to my grandparents. They don’t believe in taking pets to the vet.

If you can, I would give her romaine every day, and work up to a nice big pile of it, like 2-3 cups each day. Once or twice a week really isn't enough to help much. I might also try something like celery that is mostly water, just start slowly watching for signs of digestive upset, and cut into pieces 1 inch or less so she doesn't gag on the stringy part. Fresh cranberries are also an option to help prevent UTI's.

Another good thing to help prevent calcium sediment settling in their bladder and causing problems, is keeping your rabbit active and letting her run around and especially hoping up and down from things.

I agree with the others. It’s not bad at all. Perhaps this will help you as it helped me with one of mine that has sludge. Vet said soak the greens about 30 minutes and use lighter greens for a while. You use just romaine? You must provide more ... Flush the sludge through with the extra water reduces the urine inflammation, plus only in my case I had to also reduce the dark greens,....made a huge difference. Hope this helps.
