Ticks on Bunnies!

I just had Mitsuki on the bed and noticed that she had a tick on her right under her ear. Jay already removed the tick but what are the signs I should look for in rabbits for symptoms of Lyme Disease or anything else that a tick might carry.

deer ticks are small and black and the females have red on them,

I don't know if rabbits can get lyme disease not sure

I have taken tiny ticks off buns that came in as strays at the shelter and we never treated them for anything.



Maybe Randy will comment on this as I haven't heard of lyme disease in rabbits

Some animals can get it but to be honest I have never heard of it since I've been on this forum

I know Lyme disease is a bit more common on the East Coast than around here, but I would just look for the typical signs (bull's eye shaped mark around the tick bite, etc) that would also appear in humans.

You might want to give her a dose of Revolution to make sure there are no more. It can't be terribly expensive to take her in to the vet and get her treated. I know I have a hard time seeing my bunnies' skin so it may be best just to treat rather than go nuts looking all over her for any others.
