Is anyone familiar with Teff hay? I never heard of it until yesterday, when I was doing an online search for local hay distributors. Supposedly, it's a little higher in protein than Timothy, but very similar, and I was wondering if anyone's bunnieshad ever tried it.

I remember looking into it when we had a member from South Africa, I think, and it was all they could find there. I think it's ok, but make sure to offer Timothy as well, or monitor for soft poos/excess cecals due to the added protein. From what I read, it was better than alfalfa, but not better than timothy.

Hi Gordon

I use Teff for my girls as it's the only alternative to Alfalfa here in South Africa. We've had absolutely no problems and my two (nethies) love it - infact hey chose it over Alfalfa most times!

Thanks for the feedback! :)

I think I'm going to drive down to where the farm is, about an hour from me, and check it all out, and buy a little bit and mix it in with the hay Peter and Bugs already eat. Then, see if they eat it separately.

This is the farm's website:
