Sore hocks?

My Rex rabbit, Apollo has a small red dot on the back of his feet. He was running around all night last night and my brother noticed it this morning. He didn’t have it two days ago. I’ve booked a vet appointment for Friday (today is Tuesday) but is it bad enough that we need to go now. He’s eating and drinking, cleaning himself just fine, running around and standing and jumping. He’s on carpet flooring all over our room.


1) what should I do in the meantime?

2) how do I prevent it from getting worse?

Hi,

my buck had a similiar problem, caused by hopping on hard surfaces like asphalt. The vet gave me some skin ointment, and I covered all hard floors in my house with cardboard and rags, and I blocked all aspalt outside with a fence.
I also trimmed some balls of hair from his feet, which might have contributed to the problem.

That did the trick, it didn't take long to heal up, he isn't a Rex though.

Thank you. I’ll have to try that. I’ve covered up my carpet with duvet covers and some blankets and it seems to have helped. I did some research yesterday to see if I would need to try to get an earlier vet appointment but he seems fine. Running around the room, thumping because I was late to give him breakfast.
