Sore Hocks

I was just whitening my rabbit's feet with corn starch, and I noticed that Zaeo has sore hocks! Zaeo is my New Zealand white buck.

He has a red spot on each of his back feet, and they look fresh. Only one of them has a scab starting to form.

I've heard many things about sore hocks, so I decided to make this post to get some clear information as to what I'm supposed to do. I put a board over the wire part of his cage, but I doubt that will help much.

I'm going to be bringing my rabbits to the fair at the end of August. What should I do and how long do you think it will take to heal?

I have found this site to be helpful. Sometimes you can't do much other than apply bag balm frequently if your bunny's body structure makes him prone to getting them.

I checked his feet earlier today. They still seem red, but the skin has grown back - maybe not as fresh as I thought? I hope he gets better! They don't seem to be bothering him, but they won't do him any good at the fair...
