I was thinking of getting my bun a soft Toy friend as ivet heard they enjoy grooming them, and I know my bun gets lonely through the day. Does it matter what the toy is made out of? Or do I need to be looking for one that's made out of of a certain fabric. And also this is probably a really stupid question, but does the soft Toy have to be a rabbit? Or can it can it be something else?

The toy can be any animal. I don't think they'll know the difference. You'll just need to monitor and be sure that your bunny doesn't try to chew and ingest any parts (or get to the stuffing).
Some bunnies do seem to like a stuffed 'bondmate.'

I'm not sure on the actual fabric itself, but certain things to beware of are "beanie" type toys with the weighted paws, and plastic noses and eye buttons that can be chewed off and ingested.

As Blue eyes has stated, if your bunny starts to ingest any part of the toy you'll need to take it away.

At least some rabbits can tell the difference. My Scone MacBunny would ignore any stuffed animal which didn't have upstanding bunny ears. If it had bunny ears, he'd knock it flat and... erm... have his way with it.

The only exception was a stuffed bunny I bought at Borders - their Easter promotion in 2008 - which looked just like Scone. For some reason he adopted that stuffie as his friend. He groomed Borders, sat or lay down next to him, and generally treated Borders as a companion rather than a sex object.
