I may want a second rabbit, tentatively, but... the humping dominant/submissive stuff just really skeeves me out. It's not something I particularly want to see anyone partaking in, much less my pets.

So how often does it happen? Any way to discourage it without being a killjoy?

My pair worked it out within a week. Bit of humping on either end, to see who's boss. They settled the power dynamic, and I haven't seen them hump eachother since (bonded last September).

If you have an incompatible/un-desexed pair, you will see far more humping out of dominance &/or sexual frustration.
Too much humping = bad match.

I would promote you to look for bunny dating in your area.. most likely from your local shelter. Fostering a rabbit from the shelter would also allow you to assess compatibility while providing care for a creature in need.

I have three neutered males and every so often they still mount. It's not a constant but does happen.
