One of my rabbits recently started to do a sneezing/coughing thing. I have checked him for a runny nose but there is nothing. Will this pass or should i give him anit biotics?

It depends. Has there been any change in the environment? New hay, new pellets, a different fabric softener or air freshener? Sometimes sneezing and coughing is due to allergies and not a URI.

howdy,,,unless this is an ongoig problem,..ie-a problem which has already been diagnosed/treated by a exotic specialist..??..it is not a good idea to just start giving antibiotics...without a nasal culture--you could do more harm than good,,--a nasal culture will identify the infection--if be one--and the proper meds given to fight the problem--,-when giving antibiotics to a lagamorph it is a very good idea to offer a probioic-(benebac)--the idea is to keep the flora happy and the gitract moving...,sincerely james waller:wave:

Don't panic yet as it can be just allergies. I've said it a million times and I'll say it a million more, Snuff sneezes sometimes and sometimes has mega episodes too, but he's fine! No discharge. That is the first big sign of things to look for. Then a vet visit is due. Otherwise, I would monitor the situation and looks for any discharge and how much the sneezing is happening and when. Could be the hay too.;)
