Our little guy Kirk (Netherland Dwarf mix, 4 years old, male) started sneezing last night. Today he has a runny nose with white mucous.

We are taking him to the vet first thing in the morning (they are closed today). Is there anything we should be doing to help him in the mean time?

Make sure he's eating and drinking...and keep him away from your other bun. Make sure to wash your hands, arms, and change clothes after you tend to the sick one, so you don't give it to the other one. Good luck!

Keep him cool (eing summer and all it can get really hot and with respiritory problems that's not good).

What did the vet say? Did they give you medication?

Have you given new hay or anything like that? Allergies would cause that. However, usualy allergies cause more clear discahrge. White it usually a sign of infection.

I'd get some antibiotics as soon as possible and keep the bunny on them plenty long enough-don't go off them as soon as the symptoms are gone. You want to be sure you've totally erradicated the infection.

We did keep him cool. Our bunnies have fans and constant ice bottles.

The vet said it was an infection, not really sure what caused it. He will be on a 14 day antibiotic.
