Remember englanders to keep your animals inside tonight!

My dog is really scared and only two fireworks have gone offalready. She is hiding under the kitchen table and wont budge. Blessthem all.

Not just england, every1 in the Uk remember ;)!

There was a 4month old kitten on the local news here who had beenthrown on a bonfire.....it's sick. What kind of person would do that?the cat is still alive tho....poor wee guy, his face was pretty burnt:(. Animals must be so scared around this time of year anyway withoutthat sort of nasty thing going on.

Carolyn, you have no idea how many awful things happen at this time ofyear. Mainly, animals have fireworks attatched to them somehow, andmany die. I have already read about 4 cases, and it isn't even BonfireNight yet (5th). I wish we had laws banning selling fireworks - at theminute there is just an age limit.

Last year, a local man died when teenagers put a lighted fireworkthrough his letter box, and the house caught fire. I myself won't goout tomorrow night - there are too many idiots that throw fireworks atyou.

Good reminder, Linz. Hope your dog copes OK (and the buns, of course).

Loads of fireworks went off lastnight, i was so angry! At least i know to bring them in or cover themover or something on the 5th. Some were going off when i was outsidefeeding them and they didn't seem bothered so hopefullyaslong as they don't get any closer they'll be alright. Hopeeveryones buns and other pets are safe tonight. Heres something i foundon fireworks and pets :http://www.bluecross.org.uk/web/site/Information&leaflets/Campaigns.asp

"In October and November last year, 682 pets were harmed by fireworks and many more were lost. "

:(Evil people!

Fasten all doors and windows and draw the curtains to keep your pets as safe as possible during fireworks.

• Ignore your cat or dog if they try to hide, trying to tempt them out could cause more stress.
• Perhaps prepare a den for your pets with their favourite toy or favourite blanket.
• Pets have sensitive ears, so play music or switch on the television to drown out noise from fireworks.
• Make sure your dog or cat has a collar or tag, in case they run away.
• Exercising your dog well during the day to ensure it is tired and ready to sleep in the evening.
• Small pets living outside must also not be forgotten - rabbits andguinea pigs can become very stressed by loud noises. Bring them indoorsor in to the garden shed.

P.S. I'll be praying very hard for our British friends, their families, and animals.

Its is very sad. I dunno about anywhere else but the cops in England are CRAP.

I went toa fire work display last year. It was a hugeorganization. And some idiot turned up in the crowd with his dog.

Weve just had a firework display in some ones garden down are street. Ihate people who do that, they should leave it to the big organizations. They were so close and scared my dog so badly. I hope the rabbits andguinea pigs are ok. I have put like 3 thick blankets over their hutchesto block out the noise. If i knew someone in the same street as me washavin a firework party i would of got them all in the house.

If people are going to do that they could atleast warn people around them with animals.

At my old Stables i use to go to, a group ofteenagers went into one of the horses fields and lit a firework about10 feet away from this horse. It got the shock of its life and jumpedover the hedge, into the road, and into a passing car. Poor thing diedan hour later:(. Its really sad cos that horse was so layedback and taught me how to ride.

Thank you for your prayers Carolyn. I am focusing on my animals atm.

My dogLOVES pedigreegravy bones and she just turned her nose up to one!

She must be terrified.I really think there should be a ban on fireworksall together. They may be a good way to celebrate but theyare too dangerous, really. I think i heard somewher last year they was'thinking' about stopping them, but obviously they have desided againstit. :XMaybe one day. Its sad that it will probually take alotto stop them selling them to the public, like this isnt enough already.

Yep fireworks have been going off here all week, but tonight is the worst, my dogs are going mad, i am dreeding tomorrownite, and remember to keep all windows closed and letterboxes as wellif poss

Well, I'm back. :? I just can't get you folks and those poor animals out of my mind.

Do the people rally? If they put the pressure on, then perhaps the lawscould change. It sounds satanic to me. Maybe that's harsh for some, but682 pets gone, hurt, or dead?

So tomorrow night's "Bonfire Night"? Does it happen all over England orin one area? How long has "Bonfire Night" been around and how did itget started?

I feel sorry for the veterans. The flashbacks they have to deal with having been in a war? Bless their hearts.

I pray the Dear People of Our Beloved England will someday be heard and an end be put to this tradition gone bad.

 :England:

I hope your little ones are calm, and that you and your neighborhood are uneffected.

Peace,
-Carolyn

Thanks for the link, Linz.

Maybe it's just like Halloween here where you have to watch out for afew psychos. Such a night gives them an excuse to do horrible things.

:dunno:

Baton down the Hatches for my furry and feathered friends.

Some1 was asking where the police are on GuyFawkes Night? well in my area this year they are having to escort thefire brigade to any calls they might get tonight because they usuallyget attacked by neds with fireworks or stones.

I really love fireworks....well i used to. But they really scare menow.Well, actually its not the actual fireworks, its the idiots who buythem to play with. When i was at school i used to dred Bonfire Nightbecause kids would bring them into school and set them off in theplayground!!there wasn't really much the teachers could do though.

There should be tighter restrictions on who can buy fireworks and whois permitted to sell them. I think you should need a permit/licence tobuy them and only special shops should sell them. U can buy themeverywhere!Small corner shops or supermarkets. Mind you, the Tesco(supermarket) i work in hasn't been selling them this year.

Guy Fawkes Night is celebrated every year all over the UK.....not justEngland....Scotland, wales and ireland (well, i think N.I., anyway)too. it commemorates when Guy fawkes failed to blow up the House ofLords 400 years ago. He had 36 barrels of gunpowder under the House ofLords...but he was found out.

P.S Whats it like on July 4th and the build up to that in regards to fireworks?
