So I just had to post this, because I am really heartbroken about it.
My mother and I grew up really poor and depended on food banks and food boxes for most of my childhood..I volunteered at St Vincet De Paul for the longest time to "give back"
Well a friend of mine with 2 children has fallen on really hard times, and went to a local community food bank, and all they could give her was 3 cans of food (tomatos, cream of corn, chicken noodle soup) and a box of cereal that expried in november.
She called me crying, and I gave her what I could that I had on hand (Soup, rice, noodles, milk, basic things), but now basically I am in tears.
I just find it so sad to see that this is how bad the economy is; and when people need it the most, food banks are barley getting by.
I know I will be donating when I get the money; but I urge all of you to donate some yourself to your local food bank.
