Hello

I originally joined this group about 10 years ago when I took in an injured wild rabbit that had been brought to the animal shelter where I work. Little guy didn't make it, but at least he was comfortable at the end.

Now I find myself with another lost soul; domestic instead of wild this time. Cadbury was brought to the shelter in one of those horrible small animal cages. The person who brought him/her in claims to have found the rabbit in the cage on the side of the road. On a day where the temperature was below zero, yet the water bottle wasn't the least bit frozen. He also claims that he showed Flemish Giants in 4H and that that's what this is. Not really seeing it, although s/he is a pretty good sized rabbit.

We've only been roommates for a week or so now and have not yet been to the vet. We're still getting to know each other but I swear he likes the dogs better than me. I've been calling him a he, but at times I suspect he's a she. Right now I just want "him" to get comfortable being around me before checking.

The dreadful cage is gone and he is now living in a large dog crate. When I'm home to supervise, I attach the exercise pen to the crate so he has room to run around the living room. He's also being fed hay, pellets, fruits and vegetables (in moderation) instead of just pellets. No more shavings in the bottom of the cage either. He's got a litter box with corn cob in it.

I don't have any decent pictures yet, but I do have some video from when I released him from the horrible cage for a while at the shelter. I would love to have any suggestions on any breeds they see in him. Not great quality video, but he's brown with siamese type markings. No official weight, but I'd guess 8-10 pounds based on lugging him out of the shelter in a cat carrier. :)

Looking forward to getting lots of info to help this guy out. It's been almost 40 years since I last had a rabbit!

Welcome back to RO and congratulations on the new addition ♥

Definitely not a flemish. i'm no expert with breeds, but to me it looks like cinnamon breed might be a possibility.
