RHDV2 is a deadly disease for only rabbits (it doesn't affect humans). The virus that causes this disease spreads by exposure to infected rabbits or things that have been contaminated by it. It is a very robust virus and can survive for a long time.
There are things you can do to protect your pet rabbits especially if you're in a country where RHDV is present. You should get your rabbit vaccinated if that is an option (it is not in all countries) and also keep your rabbit indoors.
