Rabbits digging in litterbox

I was wondering if any of you have experience with rabbits that dig in their litterboxes? Daisy, our mini-lop, digs and her poop goes flying everywhere. It is so gross! I've tried using less litter, but then the cage gets stinkier. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

If you have enough room, put the litter box inside a cardboard box with a door cut into one side. This helps us to contain the mess with our digger.

Some people have used the plastic grates (like you put in your sink to dry dishes). You just put it in over the litter and they can't dig.

Belldandy is a mini lop and she loves digging. I just change it daily and use paper, only because she doesn't eat the paper.

I made grates for the litter pans of my little digger. I went to Home Depot and got plastic grids for fluorescent lighting, then cut them down to size. They've been working great. You can look around stores for grating ideas. Just make sure it wouldn't hurt their feet. There are also a few types of rabbit litter boxes that come with wire grates, but I usually find these boxes to be too small and low-sided for my buns.
