l asked over the place and never got a definite answer. Do young or old rabbits for that matter need some kind of wood to nibble/chew on? We have an 11 week old Flemish Giant that loves to chew on our shoes and he also chews on wooden shelves. Thanks in advance
 
All rabbits like to chew -- some more than others. Believe it or not, it is the chewing of hay (or grass) that helps them to grind down their ever-growing teeth. So having unlimited hay is most important. Their jaw moves in a figure 8 motion only when chewing grass or hay. The hay has silica in it which acts like sandpaper on their teeth.

The chewing of wood branches or wood blocks is something some rabbits will do voraciously. Others will ignore them. You'll need to be sure that whatever twigs you offer are safe. For ex., apple twigs are safe, cherry twigs are not.

When a rabbit is allowed to run around the house, it's important to "bunny-proof" the area to protect your belongings. Otherwise, they may chew power cords, books, remote control buttons, house plants, furniture, etc. There are some bunny proofing tips here:
