Neatherland Dwarf

2 years old

Noticed the other day she was not being herself. Not interested in food. She gets alfafa pellets, grass hay, romaine lettuce.

She lives inside a shed with 2 other neatherland dwarfs, 1 mini rex and 1 rex.

Brought her inside and her ears were cold. Still had no interest in food. Found some poop stuck to her behind.

She started drinking and eating. Was not passing a lot of poop though. Was not really interested in her surroundings.

I came here and did a search. Gave her some Probios and she was soon hopping around. Was back to cleaning herself.

Noticed today she that her urine was pink.

Big concern.

Icould not find anything.

I'm concerened about a possible kidney or urinary tract infection.

She needs to see a vet for this ..could be bladder infection or some uterine issue if she is not spayed ;you notice that she is not feeling well so best to get her to a vet soon

Called a vet that does rabbits.
Roads are too dangerous to travel on for far distances.
They think she has a possible urinary tract infection. A local vet had the antibiotics we need.
She is on that for 10 days days twice a day.

She is on Baytril.

Have around 7-9 inches of snow and a nasty wind chill this morning.
Kids can hardly wait to move their rabbits out of the old shed and into the new rabbit house the bought.

Urine started getting clear, then just yesterday it started turning pink again. She is still on her antibiotics.

Just wondering. Will a doe that goes into heat, will her urine turn pink too?
Son had a different Neatherland Dwarf doe on his shoulder and she peed on him and it was pink too. these 2 rabbits have been kept apart.

Rabbits don't go into heat but are induced ovulators meaning that they release an egg during mating so pink urineisnot froma heat cycle .

Does the color of theurine of the other bun that peed on your son look exactly like the urine on the bun on baytril ?
Idon't know what this is at this point

Angie found this out yesterday from 2 breeders.
Some Neatherland Dwarfs will have have red urine. There is no cause for alarm.

glad to find that out.
