paper trained?

I have two dogs who are paper trained and trained outside. At night we put down paper just in case they have to go. I let Patches out at night since the dogs bother him during the day and sometimes I'll fall asleep with him still out and when I wake up in the morning he leaves his pellets and urine on the paper. Did he paper train himself since he sees the dogs going there or is he just marking his territory because the dogs go there?

Rabbits like to go in one consistent spot which is why litter training works so well. It really sounds like they are litter trained, but instead of using a box you're using paper. But it's the same principle.

well he goes in a litter box in his cage aswell
