Did anyone watch the 20/20 episode aboutrescuing and the spca friday? Although i am not in rescue, i thought itwas kinda one sided. I did not agree with how mr garcia and the othershandled things. But I could spot two puppy mills they werebusting/filming a mile away. I realize by doing that one sidedsegmenttheyve brought a major strike against people in rescuein general. Not just the ones they went undercover to 'bust.' Thosepens they kept the dogs in were nasty. There were 4-5 animals per pen. Some had mange. some had matted coats and were loaded with fleas.Others were(or at least looked) healthy.

Heres the article and what people have to say about on their forum. Also including the texas spca links on what really happened. Did youknow they took a rabbit/rabbits from one of the ladies that was on20/20? 20/20 never said anything about it. They also never mentionedthese people also bred cats and kept their breeding dogs and cats inrabbit cages. Nice huh?

Well that wasdigusting , but honestly I haveseen MUCH worse , notthat that wsnt dispictableit truely was , Thanks Dixonfor showing it , alot of people dont evenrealize what all goes into rescue, but as I wasreading I alsonoticed that a lot was overblown and a lot was putin untruthfull ways . MostASPCA's dont have power tobring charges , they do have tohave police etc tobring them ,BUT as for them claiming theymake no extra moneyother than adoption fees ispure BUNK! Everyone knows theydo and looking at fincialstatements will prove that . IDo know that here in this State, ASPCA'scollet adoption fees PLUS get reembursedfrom owners for actuall fees inconnection with vetting, grooming, boarding etc, They can in somecases make well over 10,000.00 per incident. Thatsin conjunction to any and all Finesset by the court.

I Truely dont like doingrescue : This is the reason :Anyone in rescue isfrowned upon because of cases asyou just posted , We are allclassified as mean ugly Trolls ,Even in such deplorable circumstances asyou posted . the Owners are neverthe bad guy just uswho have to clean up theirmesses are.

Wow, I'm glad I didn't watch that. I might havebroken my TV. It seems like the reporter didn't do much research beforewriting that. OF COURSE people whose animals have been confiscatedthink that they were treated unfairly. If they thought that they weredoing something wrong, they wouldn't have been doing it in the firstplace. Animal hoarders and animal mill owners always think theiranimals are in the best of health and are being treated kindly, evenwhen dead animals are scattered around their property.

I especially liked how the reporter was talking about all these feesand charges that the SPCAs get from confiscating animals. Um, wait. Those are fees charged BY the government and paid TO the government.

I watched the report and things just didnt matchup. They claimed the dallasspca earned six million dollarslast year in donations, but I highly doubt that. Like someone elsesaid, the geverment probably charged them the fees, and the spca isgetting the blame for it. If that were so where did the money go?They'd all be driving porches, have a a brand new fully vetted facilityand stuff. 20/20 showed the same 3 properties but claimed nothing waswrong and showed minimal footage on them. But there are those samethree properties being picturedwith definately somethingwrong. So somebody isnt telling the truth or the full storyhere. 20/20 did show garcia bullying a judge into letting have a pemitto seize some animals. But then again 20/20 is the media. The media cantwist things around to make the other person look like the bad guy. Ifthey wanted to do a real story they shouldve found someone actuallybeing wrongfully victimized by the spca, not a dog hoarder. iespecailly loved how they tried to cover for themselves at the end ofthe segment saying the texas rspca was in no connection with the newyork based aspca.

Anyhow, the point of my posting was that they are just making it onestep harder for everyone else by doing that report. And those'victims'were definately doing something wrong no matter howbadly things were handled. That red bone hound shown chained to atrailer, with the litter of puppies hanging outwas the dog20/20 mentioned for being normal. "Breeders told them that was normaland the dog was supposed to look like that." Having known dog breeders, and raised pups myself, that is not normal.

:(grrrr....I have so much to say...but I won't...

I agree. Although I didn't see theshow, I read the articlewhich stated that even the onebreeders own veterinarian signed a statement that the animals were notkept in clean conditions.

As a breeder, I don't like to see people falsely accused. However, the report just didn't seem to back up the point they weretrying to make. They never stated in the article that any ofthe animals were impressively cared for.

Neither did the clips they showed on telivision. The clips showed atleast five dogs per cage, and unclean cages. Never said anything aboutcats or other animals that the spca has pictured. The report was poorlydone. they couldve showed what happened from both sides to back it upmore.
