Fair warning - I tend to ramble, especially when upset, so here goes nothing.
I have this friend (?) who at timesis just bitter, mean andseems to resent everyone and everything they do. Anyway, healways makes little digs about things like my home, yard, finances, etc. Most things I just brush off or politely tellhim that I worked hard for what I have andam proud ofit.
The one thing I cannot bear is when he talks trash about myanimals. I showed him a picture of Perry, my rescued malecat, and the first words out of his mouth are "OMG - look at your fatcat!" When I asked him why he thought an 8 pound cat was fat,he said that Perry was and has always been a porker and was lazy.:growl: Now, I ask you -- Does he look fat and lazy?
He also talks trash about Vash. Oh yeah, even him.He says that Vash is overweight and fat and shouldn't weigh so much (15pounds at last weigh-in). When I tried to explain thatFlemish are supposed to weigh that much and more, he cut me off saying,"Just look at him! He's fat!" Now, he has NEVER(and will never) touched him to even tell just how Vash feels under allthat thick fur, which is firm and muscled thank you very much.
On my GSD, Thourne, "He's a big ol' wimp, he wouldn't do anything causehe's never tried to hurt me." Err, that is the mark of awell-trained dog that he does not go attacking and bittingeveryone. Dumbbutt!
He's also always saying that I'm one of those animal collectors (grrr)and spend way too much time and money on my pets. I providefood, water, health care, shelter, and moretothem. Very unlike a collector who has unsanitary conditionsand sick animals in their charge. If you are going to get ananimal, then this is the least you should do for them - if you can't,then don't get a pet. He thinks I should "care" for myanimals like him I guess:
He has one cat that is always sick because he tries to save money andcut costs with it's care. It has feline leukemia, because hethought that $10 was too much to pay for annual shots when he first gothim. It also has an permanently injured innereyelid. He waited about aweek to even try to doanything about the infected eye - yellowish discharge coming from itand it was completely closed the whole time.- I told him toget some antibiotic ointment for the eye and/or have itvetted. Well, he waited and waited until he finally brokedown and bought the "expensive" ointment ($5.99).
He won't get it neutered, and it gets into fights and gets badlyinjured each time- "He'll miss his balls" "That'sjust cruel to do that him, plus it costs too much." My cousinand I even offered to pay for it ($20-30), but he refused. Now, his cat has had diarrhea for the past 1.5 weeks and he will nottake it to the vet - "why, so theycan charge you$15 for looking at the cat? That's ridiculous!" Uhm, that isthe vet's job - so they should get paid for it!
EDITED - because I was being hateful with original post...sorry.
