Update on their bonding...
We put simba on the outside of gingers pen to see what would happen and let them get more used to each others scent. They touched noses a whole bunch through the gate and occasionally softly nipped at each other but he didn't seem to mind! He actually laid so his fur was half in his cage ( hes fuzzy) and she was lightly picking on it, if she pulled hard he would slap her but he would not even move, he seemed to enjoy it lol. They eventually laid down by each other on each side of the pen. Ginger also pooped all over her pen, assuming she is marking her territory because she has not done this besides tonight.

After we put him back into his cage and let her get her excerise time, she tracked down his cage even though it was well hidden from hers and tried to jump over the baby gate(barley made it) to get in there with him so we had to double them up, hopefully some more bonding can take place tomorrow.

The new bunny Simba is a lion head mixed with a dutch from what we were told. He was bought as an easter present for some girl and she got tired of him after 3 months so he's been at the rescue since, hes a very sweet shy boy while Ginger is quite outgoing and mischievous.

Update again, if anybody is reading this haha.

Sent them on a date again today, it was completely opposite. There was 0 fighting or face nipping. This time the male mounted the female and she just sat there, it was peacful, he also mounted her backwards a couple of times but that was quickly stopped. She eventually submitted to him and waited for him to come by her, she would not budge until he left for a while. They seemed to ignore each other quite bit. Here are pics of the new guy Simba

gorgeous new bun!....
if i were u id give new bun a little time to settle in and get ur girl spayed ..ur gonna run into probs with her being very territorial with her stuff and cage ...the prob is some days she will seem ok..but on days shes really hormonal the fur will fly.....the most important thing for 2 buns to bond is one has to be the dominant and the other HAS to be the sumbmissive..if u have both that want to be dominant its gonna be a job to bond them..
it does sound like uve been reading up on this subject..but if u try to bond too quickly and they have even one little fight ..it takes awhile for them to forget...
the key is both buns have to think of each other as a positive experience..they gotta think of each other as a safe mate..thats why alot of people try and scare them to like each other...with the car rides then they turn to each other for comfort....good luck with it and keep us posted!..either way im glad ur gonna keep the new bun...what a cutie!

Thanks for the tips! A few bunny people around here said it would be ok to introduce them before she was spayed so that's why we did it but I can see both sides of the issue. Tonight they snuggled next to each other and he kept nuzzling his nose into the side of her face. They laid down for a good 15 min before moving because of noises so I guess the bunnies seem at ease with each other . We stopped the bonding after they got up and put them back in their own pens.
