haha Yeah the humping does get old. My poor cat Merlin would get the worst of it. Harvey would grab a chunk of the cat's fur/skin and really hold on. Poor kitty was not amused.

I paid $137.00 for Thumper to be fixed. 400 ish is totally asinine! Hope you find a lower cost vet. I went to our local spay & neuter clinic.

Ok so I'd really like to get Ripley neutered (he's 10 mo. old now) Anyway when we were at the vet the other day, we asked for an estimate. The total was $445.00 which seemd like alot to me. I was more expecting like $250 or something around there. This did include bloodwork for before etc. though which brings the price up a good bit.

How much did you all pay to get your bunnies neutered??

P.s. sorry if there's already a thread like this, I thought I'd seen a topic like this once but now didn't know where it was. :p

For my male neuter, it is $99 for the pre-check up and the neuter. My vet is a rabbit specialist and I'm lucky! My females were a bit more- $149 total. However, totally worth it.

I would definitely look for a vet that is rabbit-savvy.

Do you vets all have you do bloodwork before the neuter? From what I understood only older bunnies needed bloodwork before (or is 10 mo. considered older?)

They listed a bunch of things separtely on the estimate (Pre-Antesthetic ($39), gas Anesthesia ($108), Neuter ($92), Surgical instrument supply pac ($42), hospitalizaion ($30), fluids ($21), bloodwork ($73), Metacam ($36), etc. etc.) We have most of a bottle of Metacam left from when Jelly was sick so that would save us $36 right there. Oh, and this does not include the checkup after to the best of my knowledge. I'm not sure about a precheck but it wasn't listed there.

I've also been checking around to get Twigs neutered. Check the web-site spaycalifornia.com Even if your not in CA there's a link to all the other states. In my area it can run from $50-$200. Good luck and I understand the humping thing. Twigs does it to my daughter all the time.

My vet charged $45. If it'd had been $450, he'd still be intact! That's crazy to me!
I agree, that's way more then what my two dogs would total WITH blood work and pain meds. Spays and Neuters in seattle's local vets cost 60/50.

Well, the good news is while looking around today, I found a spay/neuter clinic near me who has a well-known rabbit savvy vet in twice month and does rabbit spays for $80 and neuters for $50. I'm going to call maybe tomorow and ask a few questions. Any things in particular you think I should ask? I haven't been there before so I'm a bit hesitant but I know the vet is very good who comes in and does the bunnies.
