Hello my rabbit died last night and I'm looking for information everywhere but I don't seem to find. Mt rabbit was good the entire day she ate in the morning and I was going to feed her in the night when I came home from school. When I got home she came to me to say hi and left which was normal but I wanted to play with her so I called her over and she didn't come which was kinda strange so I went to check on her. When I did she was laying down in a ball position which was normal but then I called her again and she wasn't responding (no ear tilts like she does) so I tried to grab her which made her fall on her side she wasn't moving or anything she just stayed there so then I grabbed her and held her she shaked for a little and she had a screaming look on her face (but no screaming came out) then she died in my arms this all happened in 10-15 minutes. I have no idea what happen and I have looked everywhere (I'm sorry if I was aggressive in the video I was scared and didn't know what was happening) she is still just a baby I got her in July and when she was very small.

For a very sudden death when the rabbit was acting and eating normally just hours or minutes before, will most often be due to a heart attack. Some rabbits can be born with a problem with their heart, and can die suddenly because of this.

Another slight possibility could be the rabbit disease, RHDV. This can also cause a rabbit to die unexpectedly and suddenly, though usually with this they may be acting differently and stop eating several or a few, hours before. If RHDV did happen to be the cause, this is a highly contagious disease between rabbits, so if you were to have any other pet rabbits in this same place as your rabbit that just died, the other rabbits will also be affected by the virus. If this is suspected, I'm not sure what is required in your country, but here in the US a suspected death from RHDV needs to be reported to the state.

I'm very sorry for your loss. It's very hard to have a loved pet die, whatever the circumstances.

Thanks u so much for this information

So sorry for your loss. We have had 3 that were fine in the morning and gone that afternoon--one had an enlarged heart but the other had no sign of any problem. No matter how hard we strive, sometimes they just pass with no warning--very hard to accept without second guessing. Again, so sorry for the loss of your little sweetheart.
