Are velveteens now recognised or are they only through that first thing again? I know they had to start over. (Don't you love my official terms? *first thing* LOL)

I don't usually follow cavie showing, are they allowed to show them while pregnant? Or was it jsut because she was over a weight limit or something?

That's really cool about the velveteen lops, too, I didn't know they had progressed far enough to be showing yet. I had never even heard of a silver martin Mini Rex, does anyone have a picture of what those look like? Sounds really pretty.

The Velveteen Lops have passed two presentations. They have to pass one more presentation (hopefully at the next Convention).

The Silver Marten Mini Rex didn't pass it's first showing... :(

I don't know enough about the Cavies... :D

I read something about velveteens being able to be shown under very strict stipulations... under a working standard? Only solid ones can be shown, though.

I'm guessing that what you read talked about how they can be shown now as an "exhibition" breed. They're not a fully-recognized breed yet - but once a breed passes its first presentation - then the color(s) that pass can be shown (and must be allowed to be shown) at ARBA shows.

For instance - all shows MUST now allow siamese sable lionheads - but they can also choose to allow other colors.

The working standards for the breeds that passed presentation this time will be in the next edition of Domestic Rabbits by ARBA.

Mini satins have just come in over here. They were first shown at London. I love them absolutely gorgeous would love them in my shed though its kinda full of nethies at the moment maybe another breed for the future! I have never been to keen on full size satins but I saw a sable one at our lanark show and loved how the colour shimmers through before that I had only seen ivory. I think I just have a thing for small buns

I hope we see more here soon

I used to have a couple of Siamese Satins and absolutely LOVED the way the shading looked on that shiney fur! I miss having them. They looked like siamese cats with LONG ears and short tails! LOL!

Oh, Siamese Satins are gorgeous! I have always wanted one, I first saw one when I was in 4-H and my Mom and I both fell in love with her. And it's not like they typically come into rescue around here either.

Had to add some picture links. Here is a breeder site with several pics of Siamese:

Here is a broken red ( I think?) and it gives you a little of an idea of the glow that Satin fur has. It's hard to get a pic that really does it justice. They are jsut a beautiful breed.

Oh good- the broken NZs are on their way! I actually got one NZ breeder here started into breeding brokens by using one of our broken black satins- very exciting! I've seen a lot of them with awesome type.... blues on the other hand I'm not so thrilled about.
