I just got a baby kitten (was a stray, vet said only 3 weeks old!) and can't say no. The kitten stays in the bedroom (for now...will bond them after kitten gets adjusted) while my buns have the living room & kitchen.

These are my questions.

1) Since I brought in kitten, Patchy has been pulling out her fur like crazy. I don't know if she can smell him or if it's extreme-shedding, but is this normal? & is there anyway to stop it?

2)also kitty had fleas & worms. The vet treated him but now i'm worried that perhaps the bunnys got them? Can buns get fleas? What about worms? if so how do i treat them?

Any info could help! Also if you want to throw in some bonding info, I've been looking up info at the house rabbit society and all over google, but all the print in the world doesn't compare to real live advice.

Thanks bunches!

I just went through the tapeworm thingy w/ Hershey! Here are some links:

I found this pretty confusing, but it seems tapeworms are pretty difficult to get. If the cat and rabbit haven't been in contact, it will probably not get them. Again, you can always call your vet and ask for advice!

This is the thread I started about Hershey's tapeworm:

Sorry I don't know anything about the shedding problem. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

First, the kitten needs to be on KMR until he/she is 8 weeks old.

Second, is your rabbit pregnant?

yes,to all of the above,,advantage for fleas,,better yet straight to the dvm exotic specialist,,they test for worms give proper meds for that and probably injection for fleas,,,both rabbits need attention asap,..sincerely james waller

i know she's not pregnant. all rabbits are fixed. i didn't know u could use advantage on rabbits??

i have a vet appointment with my rabbit vet on Friday the 31st (it's the soonest he could get me in) I'm just trying to do what I can in the meantime.

& the kitten hasn't been in direct contact with them at all. so hopefully they're safe!

thanks everyone!
