sorry i had put up the wrong web site,i just edited it to the right one.

Oh my goodness!! They are so cute!!

I would love to breed loppy eared mini rexes, eventually... When I ownmy own house, and have the resources to have a fully size rabbitry.

I actually thought of the idea of making lop eared mini rex's a whileback, and I'm delighted to see other people are interested in makingthem too.

The Velveteen Rex is going through thepresentations needed to be an ARBA breed. They are 5 lbbunnies with english lop bodies/ears and rex fur. Now that'scool!

Actually, it is called a VelveteenLop.:) It passed its second presentation this past conventionin Indy. If it presents and passes at the 2006 Convention inFort Worth, TX, then it becomes the 48th recognized breed by theARBA. Only the solid passed. Brokens weren'tpresented.

just curious... i remember reading about why MPLs wouldn't be acceptedbut why are velveteen lops acceptable? isn't that just 2recognized breeds english lop and rex, cross bred (the reason why MPLswon't be accepted)?

Bunny slave..are you a breeder? how come you know so much??;)
what a great compliment! :inlove:

no, i am not a breederbut I have been actively researchingrabbits since the day I adopted my first one, 4 years ago. Ihave read hundreds of articles, read many books (I have over40rabbit reference books), and talk to vets, breeders and petowners any chance I get.

I have a very inquisitive mind and plan to attend vet school next yeartoo! My ultimate goal is to be a veterinarian specializing insmall animal surgery.

Wow bunnyslave go for it!!! This world needsreally good small animal and especially rabbit vets...bet if youspecialized in rabbits you would have a thriving business...so manyvets in the Midwest are clueless

:)Bunnyslave you could advertiseyourself as a Lagomorph specialist or better yet Lagomorph surgeryspecialist ...so many people say their females rabbits SUFFERafter spaying wheras my bun was done by specialists and was eatinggreens the nite of surgery. >.the more experience and knowledgethe better

I have pictures of first gen velveteen lops onmy site. they have longer, lopped ears and bigger feet than amini rex,,it's been interesting watching how they grew and how much lopthey would have in them.

They are gorgeous buns! The vet my bunnies go tois a breeder of velvet lops. I got one of her lastest litter but thelittle baby I got didnt get the plush fur.(not that icare..shes adorable!) Apparently the breeding programme isstill a work in progress and until they get a few moregenerationsout, its still a bit hit andmiss. They have a few breeding buns who are velvet lops and afew that just carry the gene so about 50-60% of any litter results in aplush baby bun :)

Heres a few piccies. http://www.rabbitshopwa.com/velvet.html
