Not sure where to place this. A very agressive, emaciated, doe was brought here on the 4th. She gave birth on the 8th. One kit survived (the others were deformed).
The kit is eating hay, nibbling on pellets, and getting around. The problem is that the doe is now attacking the kit at feeding time. Is it too early to separate them?

If you are scared the mother is going to harm the baby, then I would separate them.

If possible, it's best to leave mom with baby as long as possible. But it the mother is so stressed out that she's hurting the baby, then it may be best to separate them.

Could you try distracting mom with some really good food during feeding times? Take the baby to mom once or twice a day and just keep mom occupied so she doesn't notice the baby as much? Then put the baby back in a separate cage once it's got its fill of milk?

Tricky situation... Good luck, I hope the little baby ends up safe and healthy.
