The apple trees are also a great source of twigs for them. You don't have to dry or treat the apple twigs. 
Is this forbidden foods list accurate?

I don't recall the reference, but I've read that apple twigs have to be dried out.

nope, apple and willow are the only two that you can give to the buns fresh. they love to eat the bark first, I'm guessing it is sweet?

"Many plants in the genus Malus and Pyrus [apples and pears, respectively] have low levels of cyanide in their tissues, though is most highly concentrated in the seeds. Cyanide content in Pyrus/Malus stems is usually quite low [if it's present at all], but many people prefer to err on the side of caution and not feed fresh apple or pear twigs to their bunnies."
Other twigs can be given fresh, which is why I save my mock orange bushes' prunings for Honey.
